TV Knowledge Fan 06-09-2006, 03:01 PM ....what David "Mr. Teleliteracy" Bianculli, chief TV critic of the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS proposed the other day is a better idea: when he "reviewed" CBS' "Game Show Marathon" (which he obviously felt "cool" about, as opposed to "DEAL OR NO DEAL", a game show that he originally sneered at...THEN he became a regular viewer, and now it's one of his PERSONAL favorites!), he said, in his opinion, a better idea would be to have celebrities star in a revival of "classsic TV shows"---and mentioned Kevin James as a likely candidate to play 'Ralph Kramden' in a "HONEYMOONERS" restaged episode, for instance. I don't agree with everything Mr. Bianculli reviews and have little respect for some of his personal opinions, but the idea of Kevin James as 'Ralph' IS a better idea than a second "HONEYMOONERS" movie...anytime. C Ingram 06-15-2006, 11:35 PM The original show is finally back on WPIX, is it not? They never should have messed with a classic. (Even the "Color Honeymooners" stretch things a bit, but I grew up with them, so I don't mind.) C Ingram 06-16-2006, 01:49 PM Perspective is funny. I was a kid when the color episodes aired, so, to me, the "lost episodes" look like primitive versions of the color shows. (Which, I guess, they are.) Nevertheless, I just ponied up for my six DVD box sets of the "lost episodes," spurred at least in part by the box-art ads that keep popping up at the top of this page. :) C Ingram 06-17-2006, 03:22 AM Ah, too late. But I got them at a pretty good price (on eBay), anyway. I figured the talk of MPI re-mastering and re-releasing the "lost episodes" was just that...talk. |
