spinoff didn't workout. The Benson character must was really a large part of Soap's early success for him to have the opportunity to still appear on Soap just in case his spinoff failed. It still would have been nice if there was a SET UP episode for Benson on Soap for everything to be well connected

There was an episode of Soap, where Jessica Tate said that Benson would be going to help out at his cousin's governor mansion.

I'm not sure, it might be in season 3. There are no episode titles for Soap, just episode numbers, so it is hard to tell. I have them all on DVD, so I'll check one day.

Yeah, Benson just didn't disappear without a reason. I clearly remember Jessica saying it.

In my opinion, Benson was the highlight of Soap.
