Ok, perhaps I am a little early, but my friends and I are planning a birthday bash for early August. My friend Tiffany's 23rd birthday is on August 11th and my 24th is on August 22nd, so we usually do something in early August as a sort of joint celebration.

Anyway, we wanted to try something a little different this year-- an 80s themed party. Everyone gets dressed up in some sort of 80s gear, we all watch 80s movies and listen to 80s music, and stuff like that. Of course, it would probably end up with a sleepover, since many of us will be drinking. Can anyone else think of things that would make a sleepover more 80s? I'm more of a 70s lover myself, even though I was born in 1982 :happyface

Well, my friend suggested we go to an 80s club in NYC instead. Take a whole group of us, ride the train, and spend the night partying in the city.

Now I'm sort of torn. I like both ideas, but I want to know which one would you rather pick? I'm kinda leaning towards the retro sleepover, but I know my friends are more 'let's go clubbing' types.

Which one sounds more appealing to you?

the retro sleepover sounds more fun to me, but i'm not the type of person who likes the go clubbing.

I like the sleepover idea, then again, I've honestly never been clubbin, so I really can't compare the two, LOL.

I'd vote sleepover too. Lord knows what's in the city at 2am.

I have been clubbing three times with visiting out-of-town friends or while I was out of town (and out of the country), but we don't stay out all night long or drink like a lot of clubbers usually do.

It depends on all of your moods. You might wanna take votes from everyone else early by asking everyone else to choose.

The sleepover sounds more relaxing to me, especially if you are into watching movies together, drinking together, chit-chatting, and just not worrying about how you are dressed (PJs and everything). When you go out to dance, you have to doll up and then worry about staying safe and staying together and see who can be the sober one to drive back home.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the input, guys...I myself am not much of a club person, so I'm leaning towards the retro sleepover. We were interested in the idea of a theme party, since none of us have done it before and it sounds like fun.

I'll let everyone know how it goes once the time comes :) Thanks again! :happyface

 I've been outside in NYC at 2am - 4am...It's actually not that scary. Just bring mace with you to be safe. The worst thing that could happen in Manhattan is that you could witness an outdoors bar brawl. As long as they're not going to party in the Bronx, Kristel and her friends shouldn't have to worry much. :)

NYC!!! Make it a whole weekend ordeal. Go to the club Friday night and have the sleepover Saturday night. OR go to the club and bring the sleepover to a hotel.
