Robert Reed as Mike Brady:) My all-time favorite. Playful, nice heart, stern yet not unruley, sympathetic, yet not pandering. Who is yours?

HOMER SIMPSON!!!

OK, so maybe he's not the "best" father on TV, but I sure think he's the funniest.

There are several good ones, but I'd pick Frank Lambert from Step-by-Step. Serious, yet fun. If I were a kid, knowing my personality, we'd hit it off well.

I can't pick just one, but I think among the best were: Ward Cleaver, Andy
Taylor, Ben Cartwright, Howard Cunningham, and Cliff Huxtable.

Some good ones have been mentioned (Brady, Cleaver, Cunningham, Huxtable, Winslow) but I'll say Philip Drummond of Diff'rent Strokes.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Rob Petrie yet. I know he wasn't shown as a father as much as, say, Ward Cleaver, but he was still a good one. If I had to pick a runner-up, I'd prob. say Mike Brady or Ward Cleaver.

I'm going to say Steven Keaton from Family Ties and also Michael Bluth from Arrested Development. I think that both Michael and his son George-Michael are the most decent characters on the show (George-Michael seems to be some kind of saint! He never does anything wrong.) And I think that Michael tries the hardest he can to be a good father, although he's not a perfect one all the time.
