I have a laptop. I want to transfer all my stuff from this home PC into the laptop: Word, pictures, etc.. Is there a way or a cord I can plug into the laptop & transfter all this work \ stuff? Or would I have to re-type my work on the laptop?? And what about pictures I want on my laptop? Can I plug a scanner into it or something???

there are MANY ways you could accomplish this, easiest would be to copy your files onto a recordable CD-R from your old computer and onto your new computer, but you could also network the two machines together (http://www.windowsnetworking.com/j_helmig/dccmain.htm) through a router or through a crossover cable (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1091099783812&skuId=6801213&type=product) (you can get them at Best Buy or computer stores for $10-$30) or a USB bridge (http://www.usbgear.com/link/index.html)
you could also just copy stuff over on a USB flash drive or other external drive, but that could cost quite a bit more (but will come in handy for backups or extra storage).
if you dont have a whole lot of files, you could also upload them to a file hosting site, or email them to yourself.

you might want to have someone more computer literate help you with it then, if you dont know how to email or create disks it could be pretty frustrating without any direct help.
