yea. I loved watching Benson and Kraus go at it. Also Benson and Clayton.

Of course the one-liners are the real selling point of the show, but I also like the fact that these people actually do care about each other and it shows when someone is in a bad situation. For instance, when Kraus is trying to become a citizen and getting nervous in answering the questions, Benson is there to help her (in his own way, of course!). And when Clayton wants his job back, Benson helps him. As jerky as Clayton is, Benson still helps him.

These characters are not just one-dimensional; they are fun to watch interact. :D

I agree, that was the highlight of the show for me.

I watched a lot of the marathon, and I had forgotten how funny the show was. Benson was one hilarious one-liner....one after the other. He was very funny with Kraus, and everyone really.

It was one part of it but Benson had good comebacks to any situation and came off smarter usually than everyone else. Later in the series, Kraus started getting in some good comebacks with people also.

They do remind me of George and Florence alot, their exchanges are gold.

I think you've tapped into what is the the one thing that all classic sitcoms have in common -- love. Family and love are the pillars of a great sitcom.

It get be an office family or a home family. In Benson they incorporated both.

When a sitcom is done right, even through all the insults and wise cracks you can still sense a genuine feeling of caring among the main characters. Benson succeeds admirably in that.

I am a big fan of "Soap" and I never saw "Benson" till the 48 hour launch marathon weekend on TVLand and I must say I really liked the show. Benson is still the same as he was on "Soap" saying hilarious one-liners and insulting Kraus. Benson had great chemistry with the entire cast. Great show. TVLand made a smart acquisition by acquiring "Benson" and I hope it has a nice long run on TVLand.

Kraus only starred on "Benson". She never starred on "Soap". Inga Swenson, the actress who played Kraus on "Benson", starred on "Soap" as Ingrid Swenson, the biological mother of Corrine Tate in the first season of "Soap".

The Benson/Kraus exchanges are classic. I also love the little sight gags (the bearskin rug everyone keeps tripping over, the three men crowding into the tiny bathroom, the men sitting in Katie's tiny chairs), and the wackiness of Gov. Gatling. Like Lisa said, even though the staff often got on each other's nerves, they were always there for each other. That's the kind of rapport you get working with a certain group of people year after year.

I don't think so. Inga had very few appearances on "Soap". I'm not sure they even interact with each other at all, but I'd have to watch those episodes again to know for sure.
