I remember reading here some time ago that no one has ever seen Ms. Boylen. I been watching the show for so long that I remember in the episode where Ms. Harper took the risk to drive when no one was home to get her hat. Well while she's trying to get down the street she shouts out the window something to a Ms. Boylen, Iola's mother. Do you all remember that?

Yeah, and I remember feeling a little disappointed. :P

I wasn't all too familiar with the early seasons of Mama's Family until they aired again on TBS. By that time I've heard every quip and wisecrack about Iola's mother that I had such a monstrous image of what she must look like engraved in my mind. However, when that episode came around I was a little shocked. Maybe she packed on the pounds after and became bedridden.

I still remember one of Iola's stories on how her mother got placed in a wet t-shirt contest. Yikes.

Mama always seems to be poking fun at either Roselle Huplander or Iola's mother.

~Ode to Roselle Huplander, another mysterious character we've heard much MUCH about, but never see.

Although Mama likes to poke fun at people's weight she sure didn't like being called thunder thighs by Aunt Effie. :lol:

I picture Mrs. Boylen looking like Iola, but being about as heavy as (or even larger than) the late Nell Carter. ::eek::
