View Full Version : George Jefferson was UGLY????-lol
TVFactFan 06-02-2006, 12:39 PM I been noticing from watching the seasons of the Jeffersons on DVD that George was referred to as being ugly by like 4 people. His friend Wendell, Florence, some Tall white lady in the bar, and a little kid. I never really looked at him at a UGLY man like we all look at J.J-lol Would you really put George in the Ugly Category?
Brian Damage 06-02-2006, 06:52 PM I wouldn't consider George ugly at all. He was no Billy Dee Williams, but he wasn't repulsive either.

I know, it wasn't repulsive like J.J which is why I didn't understand the Ugly Jokes
LivinLaarge 06-03-2006, 12:09 PM He was just your average bigut. people just said that cause he was so mean.
Janice 06-03-2006, 12:58 PM I never thought George was ugly. Actually, I thought he was cute.

I was watching the ep in season 2 with Lou Gossett being his best friend and he was saying to louise-"AS ugly as george was I would never have expected him to have a wife as pretty as you"
lol-I was damm that was mean
retrochick9 06-03-2006, 06:52 PM I wouldn't say he was ugly, I mean he wasn't hot either, he was average I would say.

Fully agreed with Janice!! :happyface
George wasn't ugly (and isn't). Even though he had some "unique" legs, there wasn't a thing wrong with the dude.
Hey, sometimes he may have been ugly-acting towards others, but that was just HIM. In looks, George wasn't ever bad looking.
(Especially in those Botany 500 suits!) :) ;)

It just seems like his character had as many ugly jokes as J.J Evans-lol

Oh yeah, how very true, Solomon... :happyface
George sure did tend to dish out some pretty harsh and "ugly" words towards anyone he didn't see as good enough or "compatible" with his persona...
And he could take it as well, too. :)
That's what made GJ so cool all around!!

No I mean that the writers put it in the script for George to be called ugly just like the writers of Good Times did about the J.J character. That's why I was surprised-lol

Well I didn't throw up so that must have been a good thing.
Tap Dancer 06-04-2013, 09:14 AM I don't think George is ugly.
And it's hard to imagine an uglier man than JJ. Only on TV can someone who looks like JJ get all those dates. I mean, he didn't have a car, money, nice clothes... He lived with his parents, he wasn't good at sports, he wasn't very smart or funny. I mean, come on! What did he have to offer? :p

I still remember this scene
Louise: "George will be home any minute and will be glad to see you"
Wendell: "Well if he is ugly as he was in the navy I can wait"
LOL LOL

Maybe he was great in bed.
TVFactFan 02-22-2014, 02:58 PM Not having a car doesn't make someone a good catch. They could be in cabs for all we know.

Plus, people who live in Manhattan usually don't have cars. You don't need them. There's cabs, the subway and busses. I live in New York. It's not fun driving in Manhattan. You are better off taking public transportation.

a car is the furthest thing from my mind right now, I need 5 years of consistent employment before I can even think about it

Cabs can be expensive, so if you live in a city, you can rely on subways or trains. Even busses wherever you are.

Cabs would only be for a date if she is not driving. I told myself if I come across someone who is not driving I would send her home in a cab

I don't recall people calling George ugly. That is terrible! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

Florence and Helen called him Ugly, a lady at the bar called him ugly and his best friend called him ugly

That isn't nice. I can't imagine calling him that. OK, maybe he wouldn't grace the cover of Playgirl or Men's Fitness, but ugly is harsh!

Speaking of "Weezy" did you know that Isabel Sanford has "Weezy" on her grave marker? I guess she liked the nickname....

king of comedy 06-19-2014, 07:35 AM Sorry. I made a misspelling.
liane49 04-22-2015, 12:10 PM You know how George started calling her Weezy? Sherman dated a girl in Philly where he grew up named Louise and he had called her Weezy. So he asked Norman and Isable if it was alright to call Louise Weezy and they both said yes.
