I'm asking because it seems like everyone at my job wasn't ineterested in seeing or hearing about it-lol I'm intetersted because it's good for a TV collector like myself to have in the Vault. Which is why i willl also record her first appearance on the CBS evening News. So who was interested in katie's last appearance today?

That's OK, if it was something more news worthy then I wouldn't mind watching it.

I recorded all 3 hours(me and early morning don't mix), and got through about half of it today(skipping through some parts). It was sad, but not as sad as I thought. Once I stopped watching it, I didn't think about it anymore.

But I'm curious as to see how Meredith Viera leaves "THE VIEW" this Friday (9th). They only have an hour, even though there are THREE days of 'good-byes' planned this week, starting Wednesday.

The only people that seems to have (literally) profited from Katie's farewell is NBC- their ad rates were higher during those three hours [7-10am(et)] than
at any time in the past few years....and her "farewell broadcast" is the third highest rated edition of "THE TODAY SHOW" in the last six years.

And I missed it.

It sounds like you are a bigger fan of Meredith Viera since you know her last day is Friday and didn't know when Katie's last was-lol

Although I'll miss Katie's presence on Today, I know she'll do a bang-up job hosting the CBS Evening News and earning the $15 million per year paycheck she was offered! :)

I was surprise that they did not bring Bryant Gumbel for Katie's last show given that they were co-hosts together during Katie's first five years of the show. I wasn't impressed with Katie's sendoff. It was too long. Joan Lunden's sendoff on Good Morning America was far better. She is the longest morning show host/hostess champ still. She was co-host for 17 years and Katie was 15 years.

Joan was the first woman on morning TV who brought motherhood to the forefront. Afterwards you find Jane Pauley and Katie bringing motherhood to the forefront. When Florence Henderson was on the Today Show back in the day she was expecting but it was hidden from the audience until her last day when she went on maternity leave. We got to share all three of Joan's pregnancies along with Jane's and Katie's.

Joan went through a lot on GMA when David Hartman was on the show. She was referred to as David's lamp and part of the furniture. Skits on Saturday Night Live was done on them. David did everything but tape Joan's mouth shut. It wasn't until 1986, Joan's sixth year as co-host, that she became an official co-host of the show. David left the show a year afterwards. Katie did not endure that kind of hardship. She came in insisting on being Bryant Gumbel's equal and indeed she was. She treated Matt Lauer the same way.

It is the female co-host who brings sunshine to these morning shows and many of them are refreshing to watch. Between Joan and Jane I did not know which one I preferred but at the end I gravitated towards Joan. I still miss her on GMA. Her and Charles Gibson were a joy to watch in the mornings.
