This may have been answered before but I'm new here so please have patience. My question is who is that long-haired blonde guy that is almost always moving about in the background of the newsroom?

Any info on him would be of interest.

Yes I've wondered that too,there's one episode when he gets dialogue too!
He seems to be a extra character for a long time on MTMS,if they'd kept the commentary going in the DVDs,sure he would have been mentioned.
One of the fun things I've noticed too,is actors who appear on MTMS and then appear later as someone else.
The actress who played the annoying Twinks,appeared as a member of the divorced group,Mary and Rhoda joined by lying,earlier in season1.
The nice old lady from Mary's night class in season2(when Lou makes a very short speech)reappears as a nurse when Lou has shrapnel removed in season 3.

His name is Ben Chulay and the IMDB gives his name as J. Benjamin Chulay. Currently he is an editor for television - no particular show, but lots of experience.

Noticed in the closing credits during MTM's fourth season that the Assistant Director is John Chulay. My guess is father-son, which would explain his being in background scenes so often. You can see him watching the action alot.
