Quebec's controversial Superstation TQS will air Catherine Breillat's À ma soeur! (Fat Girl) uncut in July. Here is the plot summary for Fat Girl:

A Ma Soeur! is a provocative and shocking drama about sibling rivalry, family discord and relationships. Elena is 15, beautiful and flirtatious. Her less confident sister, Anais, is 12, and constantly eats. On holiday, Elena meets a young Italian student who is determined to seduce her. Anais is forced to watch in silence, conspiring with the lovers, but harbouring jealousy and similar desires. Their actions, however, have unforeseen tragic consequences for the whole family.

'Fat Girl' is about the lives of two sisters on a summer vacation. Elena is 15 beautiful and gets all the guys. Anais is cute but overweight and is 12. That summer, the lives of the two sisters change forever with one of the most shocking and controversial endings.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The shocking part is 12-year old Anais (played by Anaïs Reboux) gets raped in the end, and enjoys her sexual experience. Not only that, but her 15-year old sister, Elena (played by Roxane Mesquida), has anal sex with her Italian seducer in the first 15 minutes in the film.

TQS will air this film on broadcast television uncut in July. Is Quebec getting out of hand for airing movies about adolescent teens having sex?

Wow. That's pretty twisted. Do they get away with things in Quebec that they don't do anywhere else in Canada??  It would be a weird double-standard if Quebec did.

I have the movie on DVD. I have yet to see it, but from what I read, it is supposed to be very good.

They have their own broadcast standards committee, unlike the rest of the country, and often TQS gets complaints by viewers. When it comes to movies, TQS often tries to push it to the limit.

By the way. This movie was so controversial, that Ontario banned it back in 2001 from being shown in movie theaters. The DVD is available for sale and to rent in the province, though.
