Having watched the episodes from the season 1 and 2 set here are some observations:
Natalie and Tootie had the good chemistry together from the begining such as in Dope and Overachieving. I think that may have been a factor when choosing which girls to keep as they worked well together.
Blair and Sue Ann worked well together as well. I think part of that may have been from the two of them working together previously on the New Mickey Mouse Club, although I found it intresting how in a few episodes such as Dope they had them be best friends and seemingly not able to stand each other in other episodes such as Facts of Love.
Of the season one girls who made appearances in season 2 Nancy was the only one who really ahd imvolvement in a plot , in Gossip, yet in season 1 the only one where she was really part of the main storyline was IQ.
It was interesting how in Gossip they made Nancy, Sue Ann and Cindy still close to the rest of the girls yet seemingly fully against each other in Sex Symbol.
I got a kick out of Natalie's line in Facts of Love where in the class, she asks Mrs. Garrett when her first time would be, and said to myself, episode 201 the First Time 8 years later, although of course the writers at the time had no idea.
I actually liked Mr. Bradley's charachter and wish he could have still stayed on in later years as I liked his interactions with Mrs. Garrett and Miss Mahoney in the first four episodes.
In season 1 in yerms of charachters I think it was hard to have stories for everyone in only a half hour. It seemed Blair, Tootie and Sue Ann had main plots each in the majority while Nnacy's only one was IQ, and even Natalie only had Adoption and Molly's only one was Molly's Holiday.
In Rough Housing there was a reference to Blar's somking from the Different Strokes episode pilot where she mentions precieved asumptions to her by saying you smoke, but her smoking was never mentioned again.
