Rumor has it that they may start a season-by-season around the end of this year, now that the full "I Love Lucy" series has been released (and assuming the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour"s are released before then). There is reason to believe the demand is there. A year or two ago, those public domain copies of "The Lucy Show" were listed as one of the classic TV sellers on DVD. The strong sales may be the result of the cheap prices being offered on those DVDs, but nevertheless, it is still worth nothing their strong sales. For that matter, the "Here's Lucy" DVD that was released in 2004 did better than expected. You might wonder, then, why there has been no follow-up DVD. This was explained to me by someone with inside knowledge, but I've been sworn to secrecy. But suffice it to say that certain circumstances would have to change in a big way before anymore HL DVDs could be made available.

Unfortunately, "Here's Lucy" did not do as well as expected on DVD and Shout!, the distributor of the DVD, says they have no plans to release any more volumes of the series. I just hope this doesn't make Paramount hesitate on releasing "The Lucy Show".

It was always my understanding that the Here's Lucy set was a special one-off release with no plans of releasing the entire series. In a few years do I see that changing? Yes I do. As for now, no. I imagine it will change once all of the 6 seasons of The Lucy Show are available. And TLS will only be available after the Comedy Hours come out.

Actually, it sold a little better than expected. The problem was a combination of a contractual issue and a personality conflict. That's all I'm at liberty to say.
