View Full Version : THE SIXTH SENSE
Fandor 05-21-2006, 09:26 AM I know this one is a longshot, guys, but does anyone have a line on any uncut SIXTH SENSE episodes? I have all of the NIGHT GALLERY syndicated prints of this series, but I'm really interested in finding some 50-minute prints of the show. Does anybody have them from 16mm or foreign syndication perhaps? If so, please drop me a line at lunatictyme@yahoo.com, as I'd love to work out a trade with you. Thanks! - Curt
felix the cat 05-21-2006, 03:05 PM I'm one of a handful of people who have also been looking for THE SIXTH SENSE uncut, for almost 20 years. YOU WILL NEVER FIND ANYONE IN THE WORLD WITH THIS SET! Why? Because the uncut version only aired ONCE and ONLY once (in the states and UK) and has not been repeated in over 30 years. So unless you break into the Universal lot, break into the TV archives and steal the film cannisters which contain all 25 episodes, you have two chances of finding the original episodes----slim and none!
Fandor 05-21-2006, 11:23 PM While I generally agree with your asssessment of the situation on this show, it's not a total impossibility. I have actually encountered one collector who has a single uncut episode (the one guest starring Joan Crawford), and I have a copy of the 90-minute pilot. So clearly, at least a few of these are floating around out there. Barring a miracle, I don't expect to ever encounter a complete set, but at this point I'll settle for a few stray episodes. If I manage to secure even just the Joan Crawford episode, I'll post about it here.
mhadley 05-22-2006, 01:03 AM I have that one Joan Crawford episode uncut. I am intersted in the pilot....

In an odd way, the Night Gallery ones might be a hidden blessing. I read and interview with the shows' creator and 2 of the shows' story editors (Harlan Ellison and DC Fontana) and they all agree that the uncut episodes are DREADFULLY boring and that the Night Gallery ones flow better, and having seen the uncut episode of "Dear Joan, We Are Going To Scare You To Death" I kind of agree. While it was nice to see the original opening and the other scenes, the episode did DRAG in numerious places, whereas the Night Gallery episode moves along pretty well.
Also, as a small caveat, I personally like the Rod Serling prologs....
savageamusement 05-22-2006, 06:47 AM I only know of one person- not a trader a seller.
He sold the tapes at 80.00 a piece, for copies on ebay- and was shut down.
I emailed him after the acution was shut down, to see if I could trade, not buy.
Thinking maybe he woudl be open to suggestion due to be shut down.
He wasn't.
He in fact, collected from television shows, only- and mainly- and was a buyer for such places as PLanet Hollywood.
he got the studio reels and tapes as well as one actual painting form the Serling Estate-
And although talking with him was fascinating, no deal could ever be made.
The last time I emailed him - the email bounced sadly.
But, it shows there is hope
I do know his name, however if anyone wants it- maybe it would strike a chord with someone in the Ebay world? I never looked into it- as I got a hold of the half hour episodes and didn't like them, to be honest.
Any holy grail that is that hard, I had better like the show.
Fandor 08-28-2006, 09:56 PM Hi, guys! I'm posting this in the spirit of sharing info, though unfortunately I don't have access to the recording in question. About 2 weeks ago a 16mm film copy of an uncut episode of THE SIXTH SENSE ("The Man Who Died...") auctioned on eBay, and sold for a paltry $15.00. I've tried contacting the buyer to see if he's willing to trade a copy of it, but so far have gotten no response. While the news is discouraging on the face of it, this at least confirms that there are some uncut 6TH SENSEs floating around out there in the form of 16mm prints. Perhaps a few more will surface, if we are diligent about trying to run them to earth. If anybody else encounters any, please let us hear about it. - Curt
