Ben as Mr. Foster-LOL I was like why is she calling this Mr. Foster and they are at a Singles Bar. I guess that had a lot to do with Florida being married and OUT OF THE MIX for so many years

What does her age have to do with her being at a bar. It's not like she was at a club with 20 yr olds. What are people in their 40's and 50's suppose to do? Sit home read the News Paper and Knit?

She didn't drink much and smoking has nothing to do with her going to a bar. I've gone to bars with my friends and all I'll get is a soda. You don't have to go just to drink you can go and actually talk to other people.

R U saying that at a certain age that a person should switch from the club to church or supermarket? Is there an age cutoff? I would think that whether young, middle aged or old, a person should have the right to meet anywhere they wish. I don't do the clubs and I am still in my 20's.

Usually you can't take a person seriously you meet in a bar. That type of thing was ok for Willona because she wasn't looking for anything but............LoL

There was nothing wrong with the Bar that Flo and Willona went to. Some people get tired of sitting home night after night. Going from work to home can get boring after a while. It was good that Flo went out and had a good time for once, and she needed it and deserved it.

Notice how all the guys said Flo shouldn't have gone to the bar and all the women are saying it's ok? What's up with that? LOL
Willona was just trying to get Flo out of the house, nothing wrong with that. Sometimes people just like to get out and talk to other people, and she did end up meeting a decent guy to talk to, that doesn't mean she has to "date" the guy for heaven sakes. Willona was also trying to help when she took Florida to that women's meeting, which today we call SUPPORT GROUPS. What the hell is wrong with a bunch of people getting together to talk about their similar problems? It usually helps.

Man, i remember after my divorce, my younger girlfriend begging me to go out to the clubs...i went, it was fun being hit on by younger guys, they had no idea i was ten years older than them. i rarely drank, only because i was driving. I laugh whenever i see those two old farts in the episode trying to send Willona and Flo drinks, because i recall that happening. I agree, it would look kinda silly for an 80 yr. old recent widow to go to a club or bar, but Flo still have vibe in her, she was still young in her heart, in her mind, she seems like the kind of person you can see having fun once she opened up a little and "get loose"...which she ended up doing. She danced and enjoyed herself.

that was the fault of the writers...they should have had Flo make references to him every so often. Flo was not the type to go out. Willona wanted her to see how it would be and also so she wouldn't be home alone and feeling lonely. It was good she did go out, she had a good time.

What was she suppose to do sit home and be depressed? That wouldn't make good tv at all. Florida went to a Bar not a Night Club, every one should get out and have fun sometime.

There was a whole lot of things the Evans only did once, and we never saw them do it again.

And what was wrong with Wilona taking her to that meeting? I say 'Right On' to Wilona for doing that. It made Florida realize that she was being taken advantage of at home. It's nice to do things for your family, but sometimes they can take advantage of a good thing, especially the men of the house. All a lot of them want to do is keep women barefoot and pregnant, and control them. So I was glad to see Florida stand up to James for a hot minute :D You go, girl!

It was never shown that she went to a bar again. We have to use our imagination and assume that she may have gone out with Willona again. You know she and Ben hit it off. They must have gone out to dinner, talked on the phone or gone dancing. And just departed as friends.
Just like we always saw them eating oatmeal for breakfast. We have to assume that there had to be days they didn't have oatmeal. Maybe grits or some potato and egss. Who knows. Just like that pregnant friend of Flo's who wanted to give up her baby (yes Solomon, I know, I know how you hate that the character had the show around her) but it's a friend of Flo's and even though she was never referenced before or after, people do have friends and one must assume this was someone Flo talked to occasionally and dealt with from time to time.
