Family Souvenir Turns Out To Be Land Mine

MCKINNEY, Texas -- A North Texas family considers themselves pretty lucky after finding out what they thought was a harmless souvenir was actually a World War II land mine.
A bomb team from Dyess Air Force Base safely detonated the explosive in the family's back yard at around midnight Monday.
"I thought it was a mouse trap. It had holes all the way around it and looked like a drum," said the owner Jesse Guzman.
Code enforcement employees found the land mine behind the house on the 1100 block of Westmoreland Drive and called police, who then notified the Air Force.

The family said they found the mine in an Arizona field and had been hauling it around for more than a decade.
