Well, i am getting on a plane and flying out to Iowa for a buisness trip today. I am kinda nervous, as I have NEVER flown before, i've never even been inside an airport, and I'm having to go by myself. My husband is going to drop me off, but they probably won't let him past security withouth a boarding pass, will they?

Anyway, i'm a bit nervous so if ya'll could just say a little prayer, i'd appreciate it!!

No they won't let him past security but you'll be just fine. I'm a very nervous person when I fly so I kind of know how you feel. I'll be thinking about ya today.

Good luck to you on your trip... I know everything will go smoothly on your flight, so there's nothing to worry about at all!

I just took my first flight last September, and absolutely loved it!! It was fun, and actually more steady than a car ride even. I will definitely pray for you though!! Goodluck on your business trip. I hope it goes well. :)

well, i'm sitting at the airport, waiting for my plane... free wireless! Security went good, it was a lot more fast paced, I could tell the guy in front of me had done this SEVERAL times before, so I just followed his lead. Removed shoes, laptop, sweater, etc.

Now, if I can make it through the Chicago airport for my connecting fliht, i'll be OK!

thanks for the thoughts guy! you all rocks!!!!!

There's nothing to it, you'll be ok, once you're in the air you won't feel a thing :)

well, i've never flown before so i'm not sure if i am afraid yet or not. I know I am not afraid of the idea of flying, but i guess we'll fnid out if i can handle it if the flight ever gets going!

Ahh, don't worry 'bout it. Flying is easy..just keep telling yourself nothing can possibly go wrong. Cause nothing ever does.

I'm a bit late, but I will still give some hints on your plane ride back home....

I will keep you in my thoughts. You will be fine. As you may have already experienced, you will hear the pilot tell the passengers the rules and safety emergency information while the flight attendants are demonstrating safety procedures.

If your ears are sensitive to pressure, then you can also chew gum and place headphones over your ears to relieve that pressure. This goes whether or not you are listening to music, but I know some people can get that weird feeling in their ears.

You can try and take a nap for a bit and will be offered drinks on the plane.

I was also deathly afraid of flying when I first flew. Now, I actually enjoy it - especially the 8-10 hour flights across the ocean. They can be very relaxing for me. Statistics also show it is much safer than driving.

Yeah, delays suck, don't they?

I bet I have appx. 100,000 flyer miles under my belt from 16+ years of flying. My first flight was in January of 1990, and I've been flying pretty much every year since then. From 1995 to 2003, I commuted via plane to and from my two homes to visit my dad and then back to my mom for the week. It was appx. 400 miles round-trip...So eight years of flying weekly/bi-weekly racks up the flyer miles pretty quickly.

Last time I flew was in March when I went to NYC and back home. I had to sit thru a slight delay both times, but that was because of some bad weather at the airport where I had a layover. The next time I fly will be when I go to Los Angeles to visit my stepsis.

I can tell you this much...

- Bring some snacks with you. Plane food is LOUSY. I'd rather eat my own earwax than eat the ****ty plane food. :barf:
- When in doubt about a carry-on item, check it in with your luggage. That way, your items won't get consficated at check-in.
- swedeace covered the ear pressure thing rather well.
- Follow the attendant's instructions before takeoff, and you will be fine.
- SNACKS!!!!!! (I think you get my point  )
- Bring sanitizing stuff with you (hand sanitizer, tissues, etc). If you need to use the bathroom in the plane and discover they're out of TP or soap, you'll be prepared.

Anything else you want to know?

Flying is a lot of fun...If I could do it weekly/bi-weekly like I used to, that would be awesome! It's a thrill being up in the air. :)

well, i finally made it in. I was suppose to be here in Iowa @ 9pm... ended up getting here @ 2:30. Then was up at 5 to go to a 6o'clock meeting, so needless to say, i'm dead! Jus twanted to thank you all so much for your prayers and awesome advice.

Mona, I actually didn't have the problem w/ my ears. If i felt them getting pressured, I just yawned and they popped. So i'm glad that didn't affect me much.

Pzelda, I will remember to hit the vending machines on my way out!

Now, If i can just get home Friday night @ a reasonable hour, I will be estatic!

Thanks guys, it means a lot!!

Oh, that's good the pressure didn't get to your ears too much. That means your ears aren't as sensitive. That helps a lot. Before you get onto your plane ride home, it's always good to ingest some vitamin C and water so you won't be as prone to get sick. Inside the plane's cabin, the air is recycled. The good thing is that it's not really during the cold months, but you still want to keep yourself healthy.
