Did something happen? Actually, that was Mary Ann Mobley. Mr. Television 05-19-2006, 07:56 PM Correction Brian, she left because she was offered a role on the TV Series Crazy Like A Fox in 1984 which only lasted 2 years and then she went to Designing Women in 1986 I don't remember her on Crazy Like A Fox. Brian Damage 05-19-2006, 07:57 PM Actually, that was Mary Ann Mobley. You are right Scoobiedoo30 06-18-2006, 11:20 AM I also did not Remember Dixie Carter on Crazty Like A FOX and I watched every episode every Sunday Night aty 8:00 pm Central Time michaeldwaynewillis 06-21-2006, 05:29 PM Personally I liked Dixie Carter WAY WAY better than Mary Ann Mobley. Mr. Television 06-21-2006, 05:41 PM I also did not Remember Dixie Carter on Crazty Like A FOX and I watched every episode every Sunday Night aty 8:00 pm Central Time Crazy Like A Fox was a great show. It deserved better treatment from CBS then it got. Brieannas21 06-21-2006, 07:17 PM I also did not Remember Dixie Carter on Crazty Like A FOX and I watched every episode every Sunday Night aty 8:00 pm Central Time On IMDB it says that Dixie was in 1 episode of "Crazy Like A Fox ", so you're right she wasn't a main character on the show. She moved from Diff'rent Strokes to Designing Women. passionsfan79 06-25-2006, 01:00 AM I actually didnt mind Marry Ann 88survivor 06-25-2006, 10:49 AM Mary Ann also appeared in the 2nd season of Diff'rent Strokes as a teacher, right? Scoobiedoo30 06-25-2006, 11:05 AM I dont think Mary Ann was a Teacher in The Second Season of Diff'rent Strokes I just remember Mary Ann as Mr D Second Wife on Diff'rent Strokes GARFIELDKOOL 06-25-2006, 12:48 PM I dont think Mary Ann was a Teacher in The Second Season of Diff'rent Strokes I just remember Mary Ann as Mr D Second Wife on Diff'rent Strokes 88survivor is right, she did appear in the second season as Arnold's teacher. TVFactFan 06-25-2006, 12:55 PM 88survivor is right, she did appear in the second season as Arnold's teacher. Yup that's true because When Mr. Drummond saw her he was defintely trying to HOLLA-LOL GARFIELDKOOL 06-25-2006, 01:15 PM Yup that's true because When Mr. Drummond saw her he was defintely trying to HOLLA-LOL He would have been better off with that character rather than "Maggie." TVFactFan 06-25-2006, 01:18 PM He would have been better off with that character rather than "Maggie." I still think it's inappropiate for a parent to date their child's teacher-lol If I was Arnold I would have asked to be transferred to another school GARFIELDKOOL 06-25-2006, 01:25 PM I still think it's inappropiate for a parent to date their child's teacher-lol If I was Arnold I would have asked to be transferred to another school Mr. Drummond should have had enough sense to realize that was a distraction to his son's life in school. That was a low Drummond point, if you ask me. 88survivor 06-25-2006, 01:39 PM Damn, Mr. Drummond was dating women who were either 10 years younger or more than he was. He must have been the first Howard Marshall II before we all knew Howard Marshall. TVFactFan 06-25-2006, 01:42 PM Damn, Mr. Drummond was dating women who were either 10 years younger or more than he was. He must have been the first Howard Marshall II before we all knew Howard Marshall. I see nothing wrong with that-lol I'm 31 and I'm only interested in women who are 23-30 88survivor 06-25-2006, 02:45 PM That's okay. I just called Mr. Drummond's dates speed dates. One minute: the ring. The next minute...dump. However, an aerobics instructor can never turn your down, no matter what your status is. willjarmon 09-15-2006, 12:41 AM Now that we look at Dixie Carter might have went to find another jod because she wanted to keep working and it was at least 2 months before ABC picked it up Scoobiedoo30 09-15-2006, 10:15 AM How long was Dixie Carter on Diff'rent Strokes befor Leaveing for Desgning Women. CrimsonTide4 09-17-2006, 08:57 AM I dont think Mary Ann was a Teacher in The Second Season of Diff'rent Strokes I just remember Mary Ann as Mr D Second Wife on Diff'rent Strokes Yes she played the wife after Dixie Carter (Dixie was my favorite as well) and played Arnold's teacher, Nancy Osborne, who Mr. D dated for one episode. IMDB.com confirms it. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0595039/ She also appeared on Designing Women. Scoobiedoo30 10-12-2006, 08:50 PM I sure was sorry to see Dixie Leaves Diffrent Strokes ThomasE 11-02-2006, 03:45 AM Dixie Carter Left because she was offered a role on Designing Women in 1986 No. She was fired "indirectly" by Gary Coleman. Gary did not like her and it was the producers that let her go at the end of the season. I talked to Shavar Ross (Dudley) about this five years ago. He confirmed it. APPLEI 11-02-2006, 10:10 AM No. She was fired "indirectly" by Gary Coleman. Gary did not like her and it was the producers that let her go at the end of the season. I talked to Shavar Ross (Dudley) about this five years ago. He confirmed it. do you know if Shavar Ross or anybody else from the cast of Different Strokes has ever posted on this board? i think several of them were interviewed for the Different Strokes ONLINE website. ThomasE 11-02-2006, 12:00 PM To my knowledge, no. I know that the actor who played the character "Robbie". has seen the board but that is all. I used to work late nights and would chat back and forth with Shavar via e-mail for a couple of years. He does no stay in contacy with Gary Coleman and he wanted to followup with Nikki Swazye(Lisa). That is pretty much it. Todd(our Sitcoms Partriarch Board Leader) had asked me to get that information about Dixie from Shavar if possible. Hope this helps a little. TVFactFan 11-02-2006, 12:04 PM No. She was fired "indirectly" by Gary Coleman. Gary did not like her and it was the producers that let her go at the end of the season. I talked to Shavar Ross (Dudley) about this five years ago. He confirmed it. Oh I thought she saw another opportunity and JUMPED on it like a Cheetah on a Rabbit-LOL_LMAO ThomasE 11-02-2006, 11:31 PM No. Unfortunately that is not how it happened. Natalie1969 05-31-2011, 10:00 AM Me either. I thought she was great. Natalie1969 05-31-2011, 10:04 AM At least if he was going to date her be discreet like not having lunch with her in the school cafeteria in front of all the other kids or picking her up in the limousine at school. 80sTrivia 12-22-2022, 09:16 AM I thought perhaps Dixie left DS when she got a role on the short-lived series Filthy Rich, with her future Designing Women co-star Delta Burke, but Dixie's imdb page states she joined DS after that show was cancelled, so not sure why she left or what happened. Incidentally, Mary Ann Mobley would go on to star in a memorable episode of Designing Women as the pushy woman from the historical board who convinces Julia and the other ladies to dress up like extras from Gone with the Wind when the Sugarbaker house is selected on the Tour of Homes! Will Dockery 09-01-2023, 01:26 AM Dixie Carter Left because she was offered a role on Designing Women in 1986 Okay, good reason. Designing Women was a much better fit for Dixie Carter's acting style. Will Dockery 09-01-2023, 01:29 AM I thought perhaps Dixie left DS when she got a role on the short-lived series Filthy Rich, with her future Designing Women co-star Delta Burke, but Dixie's imdb page states she joined DS after that show was cancelled, so not sure why she left or what happened. Incidentally, Mary Ann Mobley would go on to star in a memorable episode of Designing Women as the pushy woman from the historical board who convinces Julia and the other ladies to dress up like extras from Gone with the Wind when the Sugarbaker house is selected on the Tour of Homes! Ah, so I saw Mary Ann Mobley, because I caught that episode of Designing Women a while back. Interesting trivia, thanks. Will Dockery 09-01-2023, 01:33 AM Busy lady... I was just thinking that. I had no idea "Crazy Like A Fox" even existed. No, I worked nights through most of the 1980s and missed almost everything on television during those years. 🙂 |
