I've stopped watching the show anyway. I only saw a couple of episodes at the beginning of the season.

Same here. I like the characters but I couldn't get into Hope's character at all. I didn't stop watching because it wasn't good but there were other shows that got me hooked to their show at the time.

I think what doomed it was that dumb preemption for "Dancing with the Stars".

Now I have NO reason to watch ABC. :(

This is surprising... I thought the show was still doing relatively well in the ratings...

I enjoyed the show but I didn't watch it on a regular basis so I won't miss it that much.

I LOVED the sitcom it was GREAT. I agree they were doing great. I don't understand why ABC had to have Dancing with the Stars on in Hope & Faith's time slot!! I loved the very first episode.

All in all, I think H & F's failure in the ratings was down to a number of factors (http://www.bonethefish.com/viewtopics.php?1627):-

1. Too much reliance on slapstick humor, not enough reliance on verbal humour.

2. Poorly thought out plots. Is a woman deliberately lying about the paternity of her child ('Natal Attraction'/'Stand By Your Mandi') really suitable sitcom material? There is nothing funny about that - it's a thoroughly despicable thing to do! The only good thing about that ep was Robert Wagner, whose portrayal of the kind, sensitive and gentle Jack was genuinely touching.

3. Faith being such an annoying/unlikable/unendearing character.

4. Recasting two of the three child characters.

5. 'Sexing up' the Sydney character.

6. Messing around with the scheduling of the show. If viewers don't know when it's on, they can't watch it, so viewing figures go down!

1-I disagree, everyone has a different sense of humor so I doubt that was the case. Some people prefer slapstick over verbal, though I like both.

2- Have you ever heard of Comedic Sociopathy? That's why people find that sort of thing funny, I didn't think it was so terrible myself but I can understand why it wouldn't appeal to others. Besides, most people don't expect mind-blowing plots from sitcoms anyways, there weren't any particular bad plots in this show that stood out(better then some of the ones on say Everybody Loves Raymond)

3-Well you're mileage may vary on that one, personally I thought she was really funny and charming, but to each their own, personally I found Carrie on King Of Queens to be more grating overall.

4-Eh, sitcoms do that all the time, I really don't think most people care or pay attention when the kids get recasted.

5-Eh, she wasn't really a big part of the show, and I don't think they sexed her up that much, so I don't see the big deal here

6-This is the only one I agree with, season 3 actually did get good enough ratings to justify a fourth season. But ABC was more interested in sidelining the show for Dancing With The Stars.
