We see his personal life with his roomates Robyn and Vanessa as they adjust to living with a man who is not a relationship with either one of them. Robyn leaves at the end of season one and Mark's cousin Geneva and her daughter move in. Nell Carter appears a few seasons as the principal of the school. During the last few seasons, Mark and Vanessa start having feelings for each other and start dating. The network initially wanted the show to end with the wedding of Vanessa and Mark. However, Curry wanted it to begin season six, which didn't happen as the show did poorly when it came back as midseason replacement. Of course, i'm sure i've left out some details but thats a general overview from what I can recall. Hope this helps. jamesanthony 06-01-2006, 11:15 AM Mark Cooper starts out as subsitute teacher who eventually moves up to being the basketball coach and regular teacher. I was always under the impression that Mark Curry ended the series since the last episode ends the way the first one started- with Curry addressing the audience directly. Also Omar Gooding went over to the Smart Guy in the last season which means that (I guess) Cooper finished taping before Smart Guy started airing in the spring of 1997. Five seasons was enough for this series. They did 101 shows which is decent. I am glad they made enough episodes for it to syndicate. The last episodes of the series were taped I think in the summer of 1996 and as it was only a half season order, taping probably concluded early enough for Omar to move on. jamesanthony 06-22-2006, 10:33 AM That probably was another factor too as reporters take different angles. The boy that played Tyler had a growth spurt in the last season. He is noticably taller which is interesting because there is not supposed to be any time gap in the storyline between the end of year 4 and the start of year 5. The show was syndicated in the fall of 1996. GSU2004 06-22-2006, 09:50 PM The boy that played Tyler had a growth spurt in the last season. Some shows you could tell with the guys as they were supposed to be younger and their voices started getting deeper. In some markets, the show was already in syndication. I know our WB in Atlanta used to air it from 1995-1998. I guess ABC thought syndicating it earlier would help build interest in it. |
