View Full Version : Unsolved Mysteries Spoof on Saturday Night Live
Awsi Dooger 05-14-2006, 03:50 AM Did anyone see it? I caught only the very end, with one of the main actors dressed up as Robert Stack in his trench coat, imitating his voice and then the UM logo on the screen at the end.
I think it was a new episode of SNL since they had Al Gore in a couple of segments and the topics mentioned were current.
Beetlejuice69 05-14-2006, 11:40 AM Was it on last night, May 13th? I missed it.

I saw that segment last night. Yes, it was a new episode, but it will likely be repeated in two months (at the earliest).
This wasn't the first time Darrell Hammond did an impression of Robert Stack on SNL. The first time was in 1998.
greatgarrett2 05-14-2006, 06:04 PM I have to say I missed that one.
snl 70s show fan 05-14-2006, 07:01 PM sorry you missed it it was a pretty funny sketch

Makoto_4 05-14-2006, 07:08 PM Another time SNL spoofed UM was in 1994 with Dan Ackroyd playing Robert Stack. The transcript for the sketch is at:

peachysquirt21 05-15-2006, 06:40 AM I was wondering if anyone here was gonna post about this. LOL I caught the whole sketch & thought it was pretty funny.
UMLongtimefan 05-15-2006, 09:09 PM Saw the show (actually hosted by Julie L Dreyfuss of Seinfeld fame) but missed the segement? Dern it..
See Lifetime there must be people who watch it if NBC is parody-ing it!!!
Time for new shows and full season dvd releases!!!!
dynoguy88 05-15-2006, 10:40 PM I saw the SNL skit too. I was glad to see them doing an Unsolved Mysteries spoof despite the fact that new episodes stopped airing a few years ago.
Stack 05-16-2006, 10:40 AM Ahh! I fell asleep too quickly! It is strange that they are parodying a show long out of producting but nevertheless, it was one of NBC's finest outputs.
Heck, there was even a time where we could say that about SNL ;-)
LooksLikeCRicci 05-18-2006, 10:07 PM While I love that SNL is doing parodies of Unsolved Mysteries, I still think the best spoof of UM came from Robert Stack himself. You guys have seen him in BASEketball, right?
My personal favorite is where he's all like, "We still have no f***ing clue where this guy is..."
crystaldawn 05-19-2006, 06:19 PM Hey.... could you at least explain why you keep deleting my post? Like it's a crime to post a few clips from YouTube. UGH
What rules am I breaking? Do tell.
Well since this is TJ's board his rules go and as its been mentioned on here before he doesn't want people to post links to download clips because it could potentially get SO in trouble. Thats why your posts concerning that were deleted.
crystaldawn 05-19-2006, 08:56 PM And a few words of advice:
When deleting someone's post, at least PM them an explanation as to why.
Well the subject of not posting links to download clips has been discussed here at length so I didn't feel it necessary to send you a pm explaining why.

Awsi Dooger 05-19-2006, 09:43 PM That's three straight posts with the first word being "well." Let's feature some variety amidst the awkward tension.

Well I'll try and mix it up for you more next time Awsi....
LooksLikeCRicci 05-22-2006, 04:56 AM Well... this makes me sorry that I even brought up the fact that Robert Stack spoofed himself on BASEketball. Sorry to have started such a controversy, folks...
