As last rites are being read, providence shines on previously canned family drama with last-minute stay of execution.

7th Heaven This was supposed to be the last season of 7th Heaven. The expensive show, which had run for 10 seasons, was a casualty of the UPN/WB merge that is creating The CW.

Mediaweek reports that The CW has received an infusion of new cash from its corporate parents, CBS and Warner Bros., and will bring the show back for at least 13 episodes this fall.

Heaven, starring Stephen Collins as a minister, is the longest-running family drama in television history, surpassing The Waltons' nine seasons. The show averaged 5.2 million viewers last season, making it The WB's most-watched series.

That is good news. Mike McDaniel, for the Houston Chronicle, also reported that
"there's a remote possibility the show could return. We'll find out next week when the CW announces its new schedule."

The season/series finale was sloppily edited, as if the producers weren't sure if
the show was really ending or not. When I saw all the loose ends during the
last five minutes of the show, I began to wonder if I had made a mistake and
the show was two hours long instead of one hour. I think they tried to cram
too much into a 60-minute program.

I was starting to think that it was two hours long too.

It seems to wierd to bring it back after we all saw the series finale.

I thought the show ended pretty good and I hadn't seen an episode in about 3 years. Sometimes its better to let a show die with dignity than to squeeze every bit out of it.

As long as it retains its spot on Monday nights at 8:00 Eastern / 7:00 Central I'd be okay.

Last episode ever was supposed to air the 8th. They were touting it as the series finale. IF this is really true (We have to wait for the schedule that will be released) then if they do have 13 more episodes, the last of them would probably be Lucy giving birth and the previous ones would have Sarah and Matt welcoming their children and Mary and Carlos welcoming theirs.

Ugh!!! This could be good though if they can do a proper final episode.

^^^ It could be worse. They could have told us Annie, Ruthie or Happy were also pregnant with twins.

The thing that got me was that they didn't even show the wedding.

I think they have already tried to squeeze too much out of it but starting another season would just be way too much.

There was no wedding to show. Didn't one of the characters say that Simon
and Rose backed out of it before the ceremony even began?

well, if it officially comes back, then I hope they have a GREAT series finale. Something where the cast comes out and takes a BOW. The FULL HOUSE cast did.

And I'd love to see the "cast grow up" on the last episode. Plus, the "series finale" when it aired should have just aired a two hour episode instead of a "to be continued" episode.
