View Full Version : OK, did we notice the same people appearing more than once?
nerrad 05-12-2006, 02:20 PM NO. At least for me. I was a youngan enjoying television back then. It wasn't until many years later that I knew about the same actors/actresses appearing more than once on a show. The Lou Gossett episode where he and Thelma was an unusual item (he was 42, she 17). Did you think I paid any attention to him being Uncle Wilbur later on? Heck no. I knew who LG was back during that time, but there was internet during the 70's, so how could we analyze shyt back then. And besides, my mind was on other things at the time.

:yeahthat:
Thank You!!!!!! I know what you mean. I have seen GT since the 70's and during the reruns in the late 70's and early 80's I never caught the recurring actors and actresses. Of course, the reruns were only played once a day...not like now on TVland four times a day, marathons, DVD's, etc. It makes it easier to catch things now.
retrochick9 05-12-2006, 02:46 PM At this point, whenever a guest character walks in, I automatically try to figure out who they are cuz now we know to look, lol.
ThomasE 05-15-2006, 03:13 PM Let me see, Ta-Tanisha made three appearances:
Marcy
Maryanne Thomas
Some girl at a bar that J.J. was trying to pick up.
I hated that! Was there a shortage of Black Actors? You could not get away with that now.
Janice 05-15-2006, 03:17 PM Solomon's right. With all these inconsistancies, there's no way that Good Times is a spinoff. :)

Whew! She was just joking.
nerrad 05-15-2006, 03:47 PM Even when Gossett appeared as Uncle Wilbur, I never paid any attention to him playing Donald.

Good example. I am trying to figure out how far apart those episodes were shown during its first run. Was it abt a year? This is weird.
I also mentioned before abt the "lack of black actors"...you can see this on other 70's shows, many actors/actresses appearing in rotation practically.
everett552 05-15-2006, 04:27 PM The actor Ron Glass who played on Barney Miller was a guest on the show a few times as well. His first apperance was on the episode "Crosstown Buses Run All Day Doodah Doodah" when Michael didn't want to be bussed to an all white school in the Rogers Park neighborhood. He played Michael's principle in the episode. The second episode was the "Encyclopedia Hustle". He played the blind man that tried to hustle the Evans family into a signing a bogus contract to get them to buy some encyclopedias on Black History. These 2 episodes are on the second season DVD.

Yeah Ron Glass Appearances were too close together unlike Lou Gossett that was a year apart
GeorgiaboyJeff! 05-16-2006, 03:28 PM The actor that played TC.. the one that was trying to get with JJ.The one Willona & Thelma were trying to give tips on how to attract a man. Anyway I just realised she was one of JJ's dates in an earlier episode I believe!

The girl who played TC and the girl that Willona and Thelma were trying to give tips on how to attract a man was TWO DIFFERENT FEMALES
nndman1 05-17-2006, 04:53 PM Penny's birth mom (chip fields) played J.J.'s date on the episode when J.J. was involved with the drug dealers. She had a major wig on.
