View Full Version : Why did they turn the Willis character into a NERD?-lol
TVFactFan 05-12-2006, 11:59 AM He was cool when he first moved in with Mr. Drummond and then all of a sudden when the 80's started, Willis was the GEEK. Trying to fit in with other guys, wearing those LOAFERS, and just no longer being the willis he was when he first walked in the penthouse. Willis was just pretending to be cool around the family knowing he was a GEEK at school-lol

I don't know what you are complaining about, I posted a topic a while back on how I liked the militant Willis better. You then posted on that thread that you like the 80s Willis better. I simply stated that the older Willis was whitewashed, talked proper, and dressed casual. You replied asking what was wrong with all of that, because you preferred the older Willis better. Don't criticize the older Willis now, I will call you a hypocrite. If you dispute it, I will bring up that thread.

I think The Willis after HIGHSCHOOL is the one I preferred. The Willis I'm talking about is from 1980-83
Buffyboy323 05-14-2006, 08:30 PM It also seemd like they made him alittle Whiney. Maybe it's just me.
Brian Damage 05-15-2006, 10:46 AM They just couldn't keep Willis militant the entire series. It just wouldn't have made any sense. He was living a good life in the penthouse, so it was only natural for him to change.

I know he couldn' be millitant the entire series but to turn him into Urkel WITHOUT Glasses wasn't good either-lol

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. Willis may have acted a little nerdy, but he was FAR from being Steve Urkel.

Ok Urkel without the Glasses and Annoying Voice-lol I actually think Carlton was more Cool Willis of 1980-81 and 81-82 season
88survivor 05-15-2006, 03:22 PM I love the goof when Mr. Drummond explained about Kimberly being able to give another kid a fat lip, but, c'mon. Throughout the series, she remained a princess and a spoiled rich girl. There might have been moments when Kimberly was tough, but she was a princess throughout the series.
Sammy Reed 05-17-2006, 08:12 PM Senior Class Queen?
NER-DEE!
willjarmon 09-11-2006, 11:39 AM To me it did seem like they nerded Willis after the 1979-80 season but then picked him bacl up around 1983-84 season except for Senior Class Queen. They made his characater to fit his surrounds he was getting the best so he should act his best. He never really lost his ladies man edge tho

88survivor 09-11-2006, 11:31 PM I never would have guess Willis was a nerd..
willjarmon 09-12-2006, 12:28 AM I mean you have those episodes like The Music Man, Crazy Larry, and (especially) Senior Class Queen only to name of few where he was totally a dork but then you have Rashomon II, The Older Woman and more where he was totally the man

Sammy Reed 06-24-2007, 03:00 PM The episode talked about in another thread where he tried to impress a girl who tells him she uses drugs, by saying he uses them too, is another example of "nerdville".
