REALLY STUPID....imo

I don't care to have or eat caviar, i really don't think people from the ghetto need to be serving it, much less eating it.

I really can't fault JJ for wanting that. He wanted nothing but the best for Thelma's wedding. Whether people would eat it was a different story though.

I wouldn't want Caviar either, its nothing but salty raw fishy eggs. I don't see how people enjoy it.

I think he had a job while paying for the wedding and then mid way through he lost his job.

I was about to mention the same thing. If he borrowed money, the last thing he needed to do was have caviar. BTW, has anyone ever tried caviar? I never did. :D :D I guess I've never anywhere that served it.

A better observation would be how stupid of JJ borrowing money from Sweet Daddy after losing his job. Sweet Daddy being the bloodsucking leech that he was, it's stupid to borrow money from him, period.

And then we didn't even get to see what he spent the money on, lol. It goes from Keith hurting his leg to back to the apartment, lol. Was there a nice reception somewhere? We'll never know, lol.

i'm assuming there was a little reception hall connected with the church since the man who was telling JJ abt the caviar came thru one of the doors there at the church. They had a nice 3 minute church wedding, splurging on a dress, cake and some good ol' soul food, that would have been just fine.

I doubt they had a reception as I am sure Keith went straight to the hospital.

definitely. I just meant that the reception that was planned may have been in some church hall there. Our church has a little hall that can be used for such things.

They could have still had the reception. Just because Keith broke his leg shouldn't have stopped everyone else from eating and drinking. Now if he was seriously hurt then I can see them not having one, But not over a broken leg.

We see Keith hurt and then the next episode starts with Michael & JJ putting up the "Bridle Suite" sign, I'm assuming it's the next day. Maybe they did have the reception at the church, but as far as I remember, they don't even say anything about it. What would someone do if the groom gets hurt and the bride goes to the hospital with him? Just say, "Well, everyone, party down, I guess we'll see ya". No best man toast, no throwing the bouquet, just Flo, JJ, and Michael standing there at the reception saying, "Sooooo....." lol.

No!!! Well, maybe considering that it was already paid for. It just didn't have the Evanses or Keith there. lol

That's a good point. Many churches have reception halls - some are even separate buildings on the church property.

As for caviar, I have never tried it and have no desire to. I did like Willona's nickname for it: "White man's grits".

LOLOLOLOL to the last comment.

I don't think that there was a reception. The injury took precedence over the wedding reception. Can you imagine everyone doing the hustle or the electric slide yelling "we love you, Keith" while dancing to "Boogie Nights" by Heatwave? LOL. Penny catches the boquet.

I don't think there was a reception held either. I mean, I would think the family would be worried more abt Keith, rather than entertaining people. I assume all that food that J.J. paid for (Sweet Daddy paid for) went to waste.

That is kinda sad. These are some of those things that you do not think of.

Did they even HAVE the Electric Slide in 1978?? Just kidding. I LOVE the song "Boogie Nights", by the way. Rod Temperton was a very talented songwriter.

I re-watched the episode - the actual quote was "rich folks' grits". Which is one and the same in most cases, anyway.

In the final episode, they are celebrating the 1st anniversary of Thelma and Keith's marriage and the family was looking at the wedding scrapbook and they did have pictures of a RECEPTION going on, even though Keith broke his leg. If you don't believe me, check out the episode yourself.

I'll have to check it out again - thanks for the headsup.
