What happened to it? I can't find it in stores anywhere. It disappeared. It was on the market not that long ago. It was some good pop. It was almost as good as Mountain Dew.

I think they still sell it down south.

It's hard to find but it's still out there. I had some a couple years ago.

Wow, that brings back so many memories...The middle one was the Mello Yello design at the time when I was a very young kid in the late 80's. I miss that design...The sun was my fave part of the design. :D

You can get it at just about every conceivable location here (South Central KY) - it's even served in restaurant fountains.

I do recall, however, seeing "Mello-Yello" as TV product placements. I always just thought the name was an altered name so as to not pay royalties to the actual Mountain Dew company. One example was the brand "Shasa" was slight different than "Shasta" seen on Roseanne.

But it's interesting if Mello-Yello is actually real. Wow... I learn something new everyday.

Did you see moeee's post on the first page? ;) :lol: He attached a pic of Mello Yello cans to his post. The 1st one is from the 1970s, the 2nd is from the 1980s/early 1990s and the 3rd is from the mid-1990s.

For a while in the early part of this decade (mainly 2001), they sold additional flavors of Mello Yello. I have relatives who are franchise owners, and these flavored drinks were sold at their stores, so I remember them. They were cherry and watermelon (EWWWWWW). Regular Mello Yello tastes pretty much like Mt. Dew, and Mello Yello is licensed by Coca-Cola.

Come to think of it, I don't really see Mello Yello sold around here as much anymore...My relatives would still have them at their stores, though, but only in 20-oz bottles. I was a major Mello Yello chugger as a very little kid...I grew up on Mello Yello in the 1980s.

The Steak N Shake restaurants (at least around Dayton) sell it.

Still have it here in Northeast Ohio too, but I think it is bigger in the south.

I just had Mello Yello last week at a buffet restaurant I went to called Firehouse. I got it because I had just read this post, lol. I hadn't had it in YEARS and I forgot what it tasted like, I really liked it! It's like a combination of Mountain Dew and Squirt, YUMMY!!!!

Ah, yes, the "world's fastest soft drink. . . ." It was marketed as a carbonated bveverage that went down as quickly as fruit punch or an iced tea. Try chug-a-lugging a Coke or Sprite, and your stomach will never forgive you!

we still have it here but I never buy it. I used to always get it when I went miniature golfing at Putt-Putt.
