During "The Big Move" episode, the whole family was not wearing black. Thelma had a black jacket, but her shirt was blue and her skirt was gray. Michael had a Navy blue sports jacket on, while JJ wore a gray suit and Florida wore a gray dress. What was the deal with that? lol

Hmmmm good question.

Yet, they had that "African" wear for Thelma and Ibe's dinner celebration...so how could they happen to have that kind of clothing, and no black??????

I just found it odd. What would it take to get a couple of black suits and dresses.

the African wear made me think (and kinda still does) do black people have African wear "just in case" in their closets??????

I am hispanic but I don't have a big ol mariachi hat or pancho in my closet...

I remember back in the 70's when the African garb was a huge hit in New York City. It seemed everyone was wearing it back then. Then it died out.

Who remembers that?

I remember that. My father had a Dashiki (sp?) it was all the rage in the 70's.

This site is hilarious. It's got everything a pimp needs, because everyone knows that it's hard out there for a pimp.

Speaking of wardrobes, I always wondered about exactly why did James seem to wear the same exact pants in 90 percent of the episodes?!?! I mean I know the series was supposed to emphasize how the Evans family was poor and how they were struggling but James always seemed to wear the same exact pants in almost every episode. Has anyone else ever noticed that?!?!?!? Was the Evans family THAT poor that James could only afford one pair of pants?!?!? It seemed like the rest of the family had different clothing, what's up with that?!?!?

Most of us ladies are very happy he had only that one pair of pants, lol. But I did notice some of their clothes repeated though, like someone else was saying, JJ wore that same pink/purplish turtle neck a lot during the first few seasons, and also that light blue turtle neck sweater. Thelma had a pinkish twin-set sweater that she wore a few times. Florida had some repeated outfits too. But being the father, you usually want to provide for your family before yourself. James did have some other tan pants that weren't corduroy and he did have a suit. AND, more than one shirt, lol.
