Did anyone catch this segment yesterday. It was so creepy when they did the renactment of a man dressed as Beverly in the bank. In typical UM fashion, that aspect turned out to be false - but was chilling nonetheless.

Yeah that case was one of the creepiest ones, but it was a man in drag posing as beverly in the bank. Court TV also recently had an episode of this one on forensic files. A very good one, went into more depth. I believe they also mentioned UM on the show. The lady who killed Beverly ended up committing suicide. To quote Bob this case was very "intriguing".

^ The man in drag looked like Michael Stipe from REM although obviously it wasn't him.

Elaine Parent had been at it since her younger years. I'm unsure if she had ever actually held a legitimate job. At times, I found hard to believe that she was capable of actually decapitating Beverly McGowan the way she did but considering her history of violence, I wasn't surprised. I remember someone having mentioned that she had some type of disorder. Either that or he/she had come to that conclusion personally. I read an article on the internet that she had been living in a homeless shelter and was often depressed and discussed the concept of death. I honestly feel she had made the home she lived in at the time of her death the last stop and had every intention of ending it all once the police had enough info to track her down.

She was obviously arrogant regarding her, shall I say, expertise, and the police being unable to track her down for so many years. I think she actually basked in it. And get this: she was a regular viewer of America's Most Wanted.

The thing that creeped me out the most about this case was the fact that both women were allegedly involved in the New Age Movement. Not so much that as the fact that in the re-enactment 'Alice' or Elaine Parent is quoted as saying, "Now, a couple who are very close to you, they're going to hurt you in some way.....They're going to deceive you." It was like 'Alice' or Parent predicted her own murderous intents by saying someone else was going to hurt Bev. The New Age was just an element in the case.

Then, they show the spot where her body was found from the air. It had a ring of truth in it.

One of my favorite segments, but unfortunate for the McGowan family.

Bev just got mixed up with the wrong person.

thanks you for the kind words. Bev was the nicest person you may have ever met. she was simply awesome. I was young when she died, but will never forget her. That was not a man in drag, it was elaine. But the case is still open, because of the accomplice with the truck who assisted moving the body or whatever he did

Thank you for posting. I am assuming from your screen name that you are related to Beverly? In any case, we are always happy to have family/friends of those profiled on UM visit the board. In any case, I am so sorry for your loss.

Yes Michael, thank you for posting and I join CRicci and everyone else on this board in being sorry for your loss. You didnt just lose your aunt but lost her in from what I have seen is the most brutal way possible or certainly one of the most brutal ways imaginable.

Thank you both. She was the best person and was so trusting. My family hopes that people can learn to be a little less trusting. If one person learns from this, than we are happy.

I was worried about making rent payments on the condo, and none of my friends were looking for a roommate, so my mother suggested placing an ad in the paper for a roommate. I chose to get a second job instead of placing out an ad for a roommate. My decision wasn't entirely influenced by the Beverly McGowan case, but I would be lying if I said that it didn't play a role.

Why dont you just get one of your mates to move in with you? That way, you'll know the person your living with, you'll have heaps of fun, and you won't end up on the possible new series of Unsolved Mysteries.

Actually that's fairly clever, breaking up with a guy shortly after Christmas, after he's splurged on gifts. :lol:

Actually, it was a lousy Christmas. He didn't really buy me too much of anything, which is okay, becuse I'm not really a big "if-you-don't-buy-me-a-gift-it-means-you-don't-love-me" person.

I'm LOVING the roommate offers. The spare room has TWO closets, Dislimb, so I think your Megadeth shirts could fit. As for the computer equipment, DarkDante, I would give you the bigger bedroom if it would accommodate all your hacking equipment. :)
