In your opinion, what shows wore out their welcome? And when do you think they should have ended the series?

7th Heaven- Should have ended after Season 6.

ER- Shouold have ended after Season 9.

Friends- After Season 8. Rachel has the baby, and doesn't choose to be with Ross or Joey (This way nobody get's hurt). Monica could have said she's pregnant, Joey say he's going to LA, and the Phoebe/Boyfriend story could have been sqeezed in there. If all this happened here, there would have been no reason at all the spread everything out for two more years.

Diff'rent Strokes- After Season 6. For one reason and one reason only: We would have never met Sam!!!

Charles In Charge- After Season 4. Although Season 4 did suck, IMO, Season 5 was just horrible. There's only about 6 or 7 episodes even worth watching.

Baywatch- After Season 6. (Even though I do like the Donna, Manny, Tracy, Logan and Hobie all grown up episodes). The show was never the same after Summer, Matt, CJ, Cody and Stephanie left. Luckily there was still eye candy.

Smallville- After Season 5. After the 100th episode this past January, I kinda lost interest in the show. I don't think it's as good as it was, despite this year being the biggest ratings for Smallville ever!...Since #100, the episodes have been bomb after bomb. maybe it's just me, but I don't feel the same about the show. And I can only imagine where another year is gonna take us.

Laverne and Shirley- After Season 6. I didn't really like the California episodes in Season 7. And Season 8 had no Shirley. It became the Laverne and Squiggy show. ABC was more interested in their pockets, than in the quality of what was once a great show.

Sopranos- After Season 4. Season 5, although I did watch, wasn't all that good until the last couple of episodes. And this year, UGH!..I cannot even sit through it anymore. I just skim through the episodes so I can see what's going on, but it's not good anymore.

Beverly Hills 90210- After Season 8. Valerie left. And Brandon was only in the first 4 or 5 episodes the following year. I could have done without the return of Dylan in the final Season. Although still worth watching, at this point the show just wasn't what it once was.

Three's Company- After Season 7. The show started to get weak in the 7th Season, and would remain that way until the end of the series. Season 8 did have some good episodes, but they could have made some great episodes in Season 7 and called it quits.

I don't think Smallville's welcome has been worn out at all! I love the show and I'm glad it's still going strong. Even after Jonathan's death, it's still extremely intriguing to me and I love tuning in every week.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the show and all. I just think it should end cause it's getting alittle weak now. Maybe the final few episodes of this season and next year will change my mind.

Coach - After season 7. The show was never the same when they moved to Orlando.

I Know!!! And you would think that a show that has been number one on their Network for 10 straight years, and with all the promos and hipe from The WB, that it would atleast get a 2 hour Finale. Not that I actually want one, LOL.

Roseanne after Season 8

7th Heaven should have ended after Barry Watson's character got married. I lost interest when all the new characters came on. The Drew Carey Show was a shell of what it used to be its last 2 or 3 years. I'll add Charm into that. I used to love the show but after Shannen Doherty left it wasn't as good and I gave up on it after last years finale. I'll probably watch the final because I seem to do that even with show's I don't watch anymore. I'll probably watch 7th Heaven, Malcolm In The Middle and That 70's Shows finals too. I had stopped watching them too. Smallville however is still pretty good.

Good Times, Married with Children, The Jeffersons, Happy Days ( after Richie left it got terrible ) Mork and Mindy ...These were all shows i stopped watching long before they ended, they had truly worn out their welcomes, IMHO

The Cobsy Show - The same JtS moemt w/ Diff'rent Strokes is the exact same JtS moment when Olivia came along! Seasosn 1-3 are solid gold, Seasons 4-5 were silver, but seasons 6-7, UGH! And less said about Season 8, the better!

Happy Days - Became too much like The Fonzie Show once Ricihie left.

Laverne and Shirley - Wehn they went to LA!

All in the Family - When Gloria and Meathead left, hang it all up!!! And CBS didn't do it, so ABC gave CBS a huge black eye in the ratings game!

Welcome Back, Kotter - should of called it quits after Season 2. The rest of the series just dragged on like the people were just going the motions and don't ask me about Season 4, either.

Three's Comapny - I tired to watch the last two seasons of this show, but it just looked it was dragging on. The only ep. worth watching was the special ep. w/ Lucille Ball.

Night Court - After Season 7, it just wasn't as fun anymore. Harry went from whacky-fun-loving judge to a stick-up-the-butt judge, Dan went from pervy guy who sometimes had a heart to a guy w/ a heart that was sometimes pervy and I agree about the poster above that hated the last ep. Right up there w/ ALF in horrible series finales endings!

ALF - After season 3, things just looked awkward from there on. Series finale blows big time like Night Court as well!

Married w/ Children - Once Buck the Dog died, it was just going through he motions.

ohhh I forgot Saturday night live, which wasnt all that great until the Eddie Murphy/Joe Piscopo years; since they left, this show has just been a waste of time for over 20 years

Yeah the OC got old. I love their first Season. it was like 3 years in one. It was sooo good back then. I stood with the show last Season mostly because I decided to be loyal to the show, hoping it would get better, but it hasn't. It's become unwatchable at this point. Critics hate it now, and their ratings have been at their all time lowest.

Personally, it would take me a very long time to go through all the deserving candidates and describing why some of them stayed on well past their best-before dates. Instead, I'll just mention one series that I believe has been on for far too long and it still doesn't know when to quit. That would be "The Simpsons".

By the time that it finally (and mercifully) ends, "The Simpsons" will have been on the air for over 20 years. That's a very impressive record for any series, made even more incredible by the fact that, according to the "JumpTheShark" website, "The Simpsons" has yet to reach its jumping off point. Sorry, but I beg to differ.

I thought that the first 6 or 7 seasons were, for the most part, very funny and very well done, but, after the show went on for 13, 14, 15 seasons, I thought for sure that it would end soon. It didn't seem as funny or as interesting anymore and I didn't look forward to watching it every Sunday as I used to in the early 90s, when the series was at its peak. Various factors contributed to my growing indifference: the fact that Homer kept getting denser every week; the way Maude Flanders died; the episode where the Simpsons visited Toronto, my candidate for its shark-jumping moment; and the increasingly annoying habit (for me, anyway) of cramming each episode with as many pop culture references as you can fit in 23 minutes of screen time, a tactic which has been shamelessly followed by other sitcoms, talk shows, and sports newscasts ever since.

Although the cast and crew behind "The Simpsons" won't admit it, I wonder sometimes if they are keeping the show going so that they can set new records for longevity that they know will never be broken, certainly not by any of today's current series. Can you imagine "My Name Is Earl" being on for 20 years and over 400 episodes? That's a lot of bad karma! Or, to put it in another context, imagine if Barry Bonds were to hit his 756th home run to break Hank Aaron's record (steroids and all!!!) and then decides to retire the next day. If that's the case, then it shows up in the finished product. It's obvious to anyone that watches that "The Simpsons" can no longer live up to its own high standards that it set more than a decade ago.

So please, do us all a favor Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Quit while you're still ahead, while your fans are still watching, while your reputation is still solid. Don't be like certain series and certain athletes who couldn't see when the end was coming and instead ended up embarrassing themselves. Pull the plug now! Don't wait! The sooner the better!

with that said, before it ended NYPD BLUE had overstayed its welcome by about four years, probrally should have ended when Rick Schroder left and never bothered introducting Mark Paul Gosslear.

Dallas: I stopped watching Dallas right after Bobby was in the shower because Pam was dreaming. The writers & cast members was such in a hurry they forgot all about the other show "Knot Landing" they knew that Bobby has died. Did Pam dream in Knot Landing? they got to be kidding? that is why I stopped watching Dallas after Bobby was in the shower & I also stopped watching Knot Landing after that too.

Im sure that viewer remember that watched both show Dallas & Knot Landing they should remember how the story turn out of Bobby passed away for two show. All I can say is the writer and cast member of Dallas blew it since Bobby was in the shower.

That's to bad because Knots Landing was pretty good until the end. Dallas got better after Bobby came back but it deteriorated each season after Pam's departure.

They never mentioned Bobby being alive on KL. They hardly mentioned anything from Dallas after this happened. The ratings fell slightly the season after Bobby came back because Miami Vice was moved opposite it. If you look at the ratings after Pam left, the decress was a lot more and the quality was lacking. The last 2 years of the show wasn't very good....to many new characters.

I didn't like the 9th season much... I certainly didn't like how it ended. I wish ABC had given it a proper sendoff after Season 8 and then it would have been over with.

Roseanne's final season completely sucked for the most part. There's only about 4 episodes I can even stand to watch. It should have ended with Dan's heart attack/The Wedding. Once they won the lottery(with the exception of Darlene and David's baby being born), it went downhill RAPIDLY, especially the episodes where Roseanne and Jackie went on little nonsense excursions. With the movie coming out next year I have high hopes that the 2007-08 season (the show recently got a two-year extension) will be its last, thereby ending any hope of it not only outlasting, but tying, "Gunsmoke." I quit watching that show in the mid-1990s and have not watched a rerun since.

However, if I had to pick the WORST episode ever, it would definitely be that damn stupid one when they're on the train, and then Roseanne fights the robbers and then they all wind up on top of the train and the family jumps off one by one or however it goes.

I only saw that episode ONE time and that was one too many.

I would say Roseanne but I don't think it went on to long, they just gave too much power to Roseanne for that final season resulting in a wacky/over dramatic season. A good 9th season wouldn't have been a problem.

If they had never won the lottery, a lot of the useless plots would have never happened. Roseanne and Jackie couldn't have afforded all those little trips they took, to hang out with princes, and they would have been what made the show so great for 8 seasons instead.

Petticoat Junction - I could had dealt with the singing but the way Bea Benaderet's passing was handled. No mention of Kate and what happened. No tribute to her to bring closure to her passing. June Lockhart is a great actress but Petticoat Junction was the wrong vehicle for her especially the circumstances she came in under.

The Waltons - After Michael Learned left the backbone of the show was gone. When the grandfather passed away along with Ellen Corby's stroke the show became unwatchable. When Ralph Waite left too many relatives was coming in and they were not interesting to watch.

All In the Family - The plug should had been pulled after season five. After Mike and Gloria moved out the show was not as funny. Those four people under the same roof gave us great comedy. After Mike and Gloria moved away the show's magic was gone.

One Day At A Time - Should had stopped after season 8. Season 9 was horrible and Bonnie Franklin even admitted that the show was tired and no longer fun to do.

Good Times - Too much backstage fighting and it took its toll on the show.

The Andy Griffith Show - After Don Knotts left the heart and fun of the show was gone. Andy was not the same after that.

Alice - After Belle the plug should had been pulled. Linda Lavin's ego was the reason why the show went downhill like it did.

The Jeffersons - The show became dull after the 7th season.

Bewitched - We all know the story on that one. No need to rehash that one.

Bea Arthur was a smart actress when to leave a show while it is still going strong. She left two hit series at its peak and that was Maude and the Golden Girls.

Roseanne had complete power over her show in the last season and in the eighth season after they went to Disney World, because that was when Disney took over Abc. Also, I tended to like the last season very much just because of its differentness.
Also, the eighth season was supposed to be the last. That's why they made Darlene get married and Dan have a heartattack-to end the series. But when ABC saw they had open slots in their fall schedule, Roseanne was renewed, and even though I love the ninth season, I would have to say it was a major mistake doing so. In the last season winning the lottery was not that bad still, because it was good and different to see the Conners with all that money. I do love the episodes where they went to fancy places, like the Satan, Darling episode and the episode where they went to Martha's Vineyard. I cried when Darlene had her baby, and that was such a great episode. The series finale was deffinitley television history, and one of the greatest finales of all time.
Overall, the show was one of the most greatest and groundbreaking shows of all time. Who doesn't agree with me?

I havent watched in a long time. The last time i watched it is when they had the "Hanz and Fraz" guys. We want to pump, you up! :lol:

i still watch it every saturday night and while it needs some more new cast members to argument the 3 they hired this season its nowhere near as bad as some people say in fact its quite a bit better than it was last season

Charlie's Angels - After Kate Jackson, the show truly showed its colors.

All of Garry Marshall's show by 1980 - Happy days, Laverne and Shirley, Mork & Mindy (was a top-notch show after its initial season, but dragged soon after), etc.

The Cosby Show - Season 5 should of been the last, but the additions of the Gorgonites of Olivia (the biggest Gorgonite of all), Martin, and Cousin Pam didn't help matters.

Welcome Back, Kotter - esp. after Season 2. By season 3, Gabe seemed like he was less than enthused about being on there as did John Travolta. Even Mrs. Kotter (Marcia Strassman), seemed tired by Season 3. Season 4 really reeked big time!

Bewitched - After a certain someone left, you know the whole story! Nuff' said!

Taxi - Though I'm not a major fan of this show, it seemed like it was starting to rust after Season 2.

Benson - Once he became Lt. Governor Benson DuBois, it began showing some of its age by that point.
