What I mean by this was when an 80's sitcom changed with the times and became more "80's." For example, when the Facts of Life changed Edna's Edibles into Over Our Heads and had a very 80's feel to it, with the big hair, lots of makeup and wild clothing.

Other sitcoms that did this were Diff'rent Strokes and Double Trouble. I guess they were trying to update their shows to attract younger viewers of that generation. I hated it myself. I think it ruined those sitcoms.

I kinda had that feeling too. I mean, especially now, you can really see the outdatedness (?) of it. It is SOOOOOOOO 80'S. I think that's why i hate the 80's fashion soooo much, it was toooo much. Too obvious.

Another example would be "Silver Spoons."

When Ricky Shroeder got older, they really amped up the teen High School stuff. It got very 80's very fast.

If you lived in a small city (like I did) watching those shows go modern when they were originally on helped to clue you in on what was going on in other places.

Even though it was now into the 1960s at this point(yes?), they revamped it with an 80s or modern feel.

they had the 80's thing going on when Chachi had his hair styled in such a way that just screamed 80's and not to mention the "costumes" they wore...purely 80's. they lost the 50's feel and the 60's feel REAL FAST!

I think the skyrocketing popularity of MTV might have had something to do with this. Shows were trying to be hip and emulate the youth culture of the time.

LOL, I remember watching "Happy Days" as a child and thinking "isn't this supposed to take place in the 50-60s?"... The same goes for "The Wonder Years" after a while, the show felt very 90's-ish.

I'm suprised "That 70s Show" hasn't done the same.

When I was a kid, I had no idea "Happy Days" was even set in the 1950s/60s. It wasn't until it came to N@N that I realized it. lol
