I'm looking for a bit of advice on encoding.

If I use a programme like cucusoft, I can get a really good PAL encode, but when I encode to ntsc I always have to use the tmpgenc encoder, which takes forever!!

All other programmes that I've tried will encode to ntsc, but the picture on the dvd usually has frame lags, so it does't run smoothely from one frame to the next.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Cheers,

J

Yeah, but you have to change the output settings if you want to use it with tmpgenc, and when you do, it seems to affect the quality.

I suppose I'm really just looking for a programme that will match tmpgenc but will encode faster, and will also allow for pal to ntsc conversion.

thanks for the reply joey

Savageamusement pointed out to me the other day that Nero 7 will convert PAl to NTSC quickly and still keep the quality. I just purchased Psi Factor seasons 1-3 ( from ebay for $300.00) from the UK and they all are in PAL. You might want to check Nero 7 out. I've heard they have really added a lot of features to Nero in their latest addition. I'm seriously thinking about upgrading from 6.6 to ultra 7. I have Cucusoft and have really been disappointed.

Buy a multi-region free DVD player, like the Philips DVP642, and there is no conversion necessary. This player will take your PAL discs and output them to your NTSC TV.
