I was running a search on the Web today to find convicted killer Marvin Gabrion's website when I found this article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12307656/from/RL.5/). Thought it may be of some interest to some of you folks.

For those of you that don't remember, Marvin Gabrion was the man who was convicted of abducting and killing Rachel Timmerman just a few days before she was set to testify against him for rape. Gabrion was also linked to four or five other missing persons cases and had been previously convicted for Social Security Fraud. A particularly memorable part of the case involved the fact that Rachel was abducted along with her daughter Shannon. Even though Rachel's body was later discovered, Shannon was never found (http://www.doenetwork.us/nampn/cases/verhage_shannon.html).

This guy is such a total sleaze!!! I googled his name the other day and was utterly sickened to see that he's able to have a webpage from Death Row (which was disturbing to discover he's housed only 45 minutes from me!) Anyway in it he was trying to garner everyone's sympathy, saying he was an innocent man sentenced to death. He wants people to write him indepth letters no shorter than 3 pages and even intimated that people are allowed to send him money! Anyway its absolutely infuriating to me that he's able to have access to things like that. He was even preaching a sob story about how some people there are able to work and earn money but he's been told he'll never be able to. Does he really think that anyone with a brain in their head thinks he's innocent or will feel sorry for him in any way knowing what he did to Rachel and what he probably did to her baby? :mad:

The brother didn't know the whole story, adopted the baby, and it was 13 or 14 years later -- after the killer had been arrested -- that the authorities figured out who she was.

There was this segment from the early 90s I guess where they had this psychic who would draw people who had pre-deceased him. One of these pictures was that of an elderly lady. The elderly lady looks like Shannon Timmerman. Spooky!

I know that Rachel's family think that Gabrion sold the baby, but you'd think that SOMETHING would have turned up on that trail.

In addition, didn't they think that Rachel was still alive when she was thrown into the water? For some reason, that stuck with me. I really hope it wasn't the case, though.

I too think he nothing but guilty for the murders and everything he has been charged with.. people like him deserved the walls of prison to keep them company.. it is unfortunate that he been able to convice people that he may be innocent!

Was that sarcasm? Yes, Gabrion is entitled to his constitutional rights. However, I'm completely against him getting away from a murder rap on the basis of a jurisdictional question.

I can't think of anyone who would be more suitable. Yes, Marvin Gabrion looks like Sean Penn. And if Hollywood were to make a movie about Gabrion, they'd probably make a hero out of him.

Sad but true. However, Sean Penn would play a KILLER bad Gabrion (Pardon the pun, but it's still true.)

Wow, yeah Marvin Gabrion, I had no idea he had this personal site. That is some pretty sick stuff. The sad thing is I bet Gabrion gets several letters a week. I have actually thought about writing to prisoners before but I would never write to soemone like Gabrion. I mean Gabrion has made killers that I thought were terrible look humane. Gabrion gives Richard Ramirez a run for his money. Richard Ramirez in his heyday back in the late 80's was actually receiving 70 letters a day. A prison official in California said this has whittled down to about 10 letters a day.

However Gabrion is the only person I feel was capable of murdering Rachel Timmerman in the way she was murdered. Gabrion is in the top 5 in terms of cruel that I have seen on UM I think. She died by drowning meaning she was alive when she was thrown in the water. She had ducttape placed over her eyes and mouth. She was also handcuffed and weighed down with cinderblocks. Terrible. I also have no doubt that Gabrion murdered Wayne Davis to keep him quiet. I am also sure Gabrion murdered Robert Allen and John Weeks. I think Gabrion used Weeks to get to Timmerman and then murdered Weeks within a couple of weeks probably because he was afraid Weeks wouldnt be able to keep his mouth shut. As for Marvin Gabrion appealing again, well we can all look forward to at least another 5 to 10 years of this until his appeals run out. Then an execution date will finally be set. Appearantly Gabrion was quite popular when he was in high school and he graduated in 1971 and was a letterman in football and track. However apperantly Gabrion was involved in a serious accident in his late 20's and suffered a head injury and he was never the same after that.

I just saw this case for the first time yesterday. I cant believe I missed it during the Robert Stack era. This is an absolute heinous crime in every sense. Marvin Gabrion is one sick son of a b****. I cant think of anyone else who is more deserving of the death penalty than him. Well, maybe Oba Chandler as well. Speaking of which, those two crimes are practically identical. But anyway, Gabrion should be thrown over a boat while weighed down with cinder blocks and handcuffed as his death sentence, just like he did to his victim. And I don't even want to think what may have happened to that poor baby girl. I highly doubt he gave her away. Someone as sick as Gabrion doesn't care too much about human life, even that of an infant child.

I'm fairly certain the segment stated she had given birth a year earlier, so her baby was from a prior relationship. I really hope Shannon is alive and well, and even if it's unlikely, there is hope.

Maybe Baby Shannon was put up for adoption somewhere.

As much as I hate to say it, the fact that Gabrion showed no compassion for Rachel or the two missing men (John Weeks & Wayne Davis) who "mysteriously" turned up dead in association with Gabrion, I think that baby Shannon is dead.

GAH! I live in Michigan and, imo, the fact that this case involved federal lands, allowing for the death penalty to be an option was a positive thing.

There are some people who deserve life in prison for their crimes and then there are guys like Gabrion. He's a rapist, a torture/killer, and has left a trail of bodies (and a missing infant) in his wake. The DP was the correct sentence. And with his ego, I have no doubt that he views this as a huge victory to flaunt.

Someone posted on the GR press site that asked when will Michigan get rid of the bleeding heart liberals that have this law....I wonder if they know we've mostly had Republican govenors and outside the southern part of the state its mostly conservative hunters...UGH

I heard he killed Rachel in Indiana? What else I find odd is that Marvin's buddy Wayne Davis vanishes after Marvin killed Rachel in 1997 but Davis' body wasn't found until 5 years later in 2002 in a lake or pond, and coincidentally I heard it was around the same time of Gabrion's trial that they found Davis' body. If he went missing in 1997, where was he for 5 years before his body surfaced? Not sure if they've ever found Shannon's remains or the other 2 missing men.

Maybe its because I'm the proud mommy of Baby Ricci.... but this case has always stuck with me. I ran a Google search on my good buddy Marvin Gabrion today and found that his death sentence was REINSTATED.

The only bad part about that story is the first paragraph of the order: Gabrion also abducted and killed Timmerman's infant daughter.

From the Order: "The body of Timmerman's eleven-month old daugher has never been found. But it is virtually undisputed that Gabrion killed her. While awaiting trial for Rachel’s murder, Gabrion gave another prisoner a map of Oxford Lake, on which he had written, “body of 3, 1 found.” While incarcerated, Gabrion also told two inmates that he “killed the baby because there was nowhere else to put it.” "

This is later in the Order, probably given as justification for the reinstatement of the death sentence: "Other testimony showed that Gabrion had been a busy inmate while awaiting trial. He carved a fake gun from soap, painted it black, and planned to use it in an escape attempt. In separate phone calls, he impersonated a state senator and court officials in an attempt to transfer to another jail. He obtained hypodermic needles, razor blades, and a claw made from a metal shower ring, among other contraband. Gabrion also placed dozens of calls to Shannon Verhage’s paternal grandmother, accusing her of killing Rachel and Shannon. And Gabrion wrote numerous letters to Rachel’s father, saying he knew where the baby was and asking for a photo of her. In desperation, apparently, Rachel’s father eventually sent him one, which Gabrion then used for sexual gratification."

As a mother and a human being capable of emotion, this makes me so sick. I can't even articulate into words what should happen to this guy.

OMG re: everything! And obtaining the photo of the baby for sexual gratification? I am thinking the worst about what happened to that poor little girl. I assumed she had been killed but because of that info, I think there was even more to it.

I've only read the first few pages of that linked document. Gabrion needs to be dead. This guy is the worst of the worst.
