I know you have asthma and smoking with that disease isn't any good. That's one reason I never tried. I wish you the best. :) Mijada 04-30-2006, 04:45 PM Good luck. I know you can quit if you really want to. My mom was able to quit cold turkey after 40 years. If she can quit anyone can. Won't be easy but you can still do it. :) Ireneparalegal 04-30-2006, 04:48 PM You can do it girlfriend!!!! will most definitely add you to my prayers. My boyfriend quit cold turkey over two years ago. It's a wonderful feeling. He feels great, he feels better than he has in a long time. The coughs are gone, the smell. It's one of the best gifts you can give yourself. You're Tara? I had no idea. I thought you were a new member. I had no idea either until a couple hours ago. I'm so use to her as Livingina70'sdream. LOL!! Anyway, you're strong Tara, so I know you can do it!! :) Holly 05-03-2006, 08:34 AM I decided to FINALLY quit smoking (this time for good); for the last month or so, I developed this terrible smokers cough, and I am also tired of being addicted to cigarettes (too expensive and just plain gross). I tried stopping in 2004 and I was successful (I do not smoke for 9 months), this time I mean it. I really really want to kick this habit (before it is too late) so I am asking for your prayers..thanks:) You have my thoughts and prayers with you .. Hope you stop smoking for good... Pitooey 05-03-2006, 08:43 AM I want to thank everyone for their kind words and encouragement; so far, it has been 2 days without a cigarette (and the ironic thing is, I was not even craving one today; so maybe this is a good sign):) YOU CAN DO IT............. I smoked for 22 years and when I decided to stop I stopped. I used the patch. I did buy a pack of cigarettes while stopping somewhere in the middle of that same week and they tasted so bad I quit. I will pray for you Tara. I know you can do it. Mr. Television 05-04-2006, 07:15 PM The ironic thing, is that I witness an Great Aunt suffer from cancer, because she smoked...and still, here I am a smoker for the last 20 years (I have been smoking off and on since I was fifteen). My Dad used to be a chronic smoker. He started in high school and even got my Mom to smoke. He quit cold turkey after my sister was born. That was back in 1977. He hasn't had a smoke since. My Mom on the other hand smoked until the day she died and she smoked a lot. I think that might have been one cause of her death. I know it didn't help. Pitooey 05-04-2006, 09:32 PM Another habit that I picked up after I stopped smoking was chewing gum. One day (since I quit the cigarettes) I started to chew gum. I guess I chewed the gum so hard that I was in a store and I heard this person next to me clacking their gums. I must've (without knowing it) chewed the gum so hard I didn't realize I was making noise. I don't ever think of those darn cigarettes. I can't believe it took so many years for me to quit but you know? My clothes smell like Downy soft, My house no longer smells. I don't have those ashtrays laying around. I hope you're doing good. retrochick9 05-04-2006, 11:47 PM Good for you!!! Good luck, you have my prayers. |
