isn;t it a very uncomfortable feeling knowing that the FINALS before summer break is the only test you don;t get back from the professor and it plays a HUGE part in your final grade for the course. That drove me crazy in college. Since the finals is the only test you don;t get back, how do we know if the professor really grades them?-lol Just something for you college students to think about.

don't they nowadays email your grades? I remember in college, some of the professors would leave the exams for us to pick up (if we wanted) at the front office...basically some arrangements would be made so we could see what/how we did.

most professor, do not email you your final exm grade, but your FINAL GRADE in the class is mailed to you from the school. I think if you particullarly want your final exam grade, and if the professor is willing to give ti to you, you can email him.

I never cared; as long as I passed the class.

But most times the professor don;t have time to grade very exam and leave it for you to pick up which is the scary thing about finals.

I know my nieces have been able to access either an email or a something to find out what their grades are. I made the mistake of saying having it emailed to you, when I should have said, you can access something the teacher/professor has set up via the computer.

what do you mean? every exam has to be looked at/graded. they didn't grade it and leave it right away for us to pick up. It was some time, but still he/she made arrangements for us to pick it up at the office...even if it was abt two or three weeks later. But every paper gets graded.

For REAL! As long as I got a good grade overall in the class, I didn't give a damn what my specific grade was on any tests or assignments.

True. I guess the only people who would want to know are people that are worried they won't pass...or people that just have to have their paper. I never picked up my papers because I always got a great grade.

Why and the Final is 75% of your Final Grade?

i know. but if one is a great student and does relatively well on their papers, then there shouldn't be worrying. If someone is teetering on the edge of flunking than that may be a problem. And they have no one to blame but themselves.

Right, you set the tone for what kind of student you are early and if you are an A student then the professor is used to you being an A student. If you are a C student then you may be a little worried about the grade on your final. One time I had all my suitcases in back of the class while I was taking my final because I knew that I was going straight to the train station after my final. So since that was the case, I didn;t want to be on the train thinking about the exam so I asked the professor to grade the exam in front of me because I wanted a relaxing ride home. So I needed a 98 on the Final to get off academic probation, talk about pressure-lol. And after he finished grading it, I got a 99 and didn't need to call a cab to go to the train station because I ran to the station from being excited-lol

Well usually the Final is whatever percent of your grade that the teacher or professor decides.

But I mean, if I get my final grade for the class and it's something I'm pleased with, then that's all I really care about, and I'm finished with the class. I don't need to go back and see what grade I got on what assignment or exam.

1) it's a rareity when a final exam is 75% of your final grade.
2) Most of my classes, the final exam was 25% or 30% at the MOST

I enver cared because I didn't see much since in worrying myself over something I coulnd't change. I just studied my ass off before the exam.

I've been back in school for a couple years and they don't mail us a damn thing, everything is online. Some professors will post online right away and some won't. The profs at my school get 48 hours after a final to correct them and turn in grades.

All of our grades are kept online thought blackboard.edu or other similiar sites. I get all of the grades from tests and assignments on my page, including the final exam grade and the final grade in the class.

True, most only grade schools leave it at about 25 percent; most colleges do not make you account for even that much on your final exam..

Well College must be different now because the Final always was a bigger factor in determining your final grade. I don't ever remember any final only counting as 10%, maybe a MIDTERM

every professor is different. if they give decent amount of papers and tests throughout the semester there's no reason for the final to count for much.

It just depends and the school and professor. :)
