So many times at my job when we get paid, I see certain workers coming back from lunch with bags from a clothing store so everyone can see what they bought. And not only that, one guy wanted to brag about the expensive shoes he just bought. But if itw as like that he wouldn;t have had to wait to pay day to buy those shoes. So is it better to go clothes shopping when you get off rather than coming back from lunch with a lot of BAGS so everyone can see the outfit you bought on lunch?

I don't understand anyone who tries to do anything but eat lunch on their lunch hour. I have had a few appts. to deal with, but even that was a b****. One hour is not enough time for anything, especially having to go back to work. IMO.

When I worked in Boston, I would shop for something on my lunch break. Perfume for a birthday gift or something, but never clothes shopping for myself. Too much pressure. I never had to wait for pay day either. I always use my credit card and pay it off in full at the end of the month.

Once, for my husband's birthday, I went to Macy's on my lunch hour. I know his size and style like I know my own name. I came back from my lunch hour, on time and loaded with bags and bags of clothes, sneakers, shoes, etc for my husband.

My boss was laughing. She said I was the perfect example of a power shopper.

i only get a half hour lunch break...yeah....trying to actually sit down and read on a half hour break is a struggle enough...by the time i get the book, sit down, my break is pretty much over...blah...i want a nice cubicle job

I don't think that's strange at all. The women always did that, including myself. I haven't seen too many men do it, but that still wouldn't faze me. People get excited over their purchases and often times want opinions.

It's not silly, but I wouldn't do it. For one thing, when I am at work and am working for eight hours a day, I would rather use my lunch hour TO eat lunch, as I am hungry at this point. I'd rather go clothes shopping after work or on the weekends. My payday is always Friday and get paid through direct deposit, so it fits perfectly for that evening or the following Saturday and Sunday.

Here's what I think is silly:

Wearing one of those flowers on your jacket that clowns wear to work, and then squirting a co-worker in the eye with it after you convince them to lean in and "smell the flower".

That's what I consider silly.
