retrochick9 04-27-2006, 11:40 PM I love that scene! It reminds me of my bike when I was a kid. I had a blue Schwinn with a white banana seat with pink flowers, LOL!!!!! I put one of those huge orange flags on the back and a bell and a basket with flowers on it, I thought I was sooooo cool, LOL!!!! Ahhhhh, to be a kid again....lol.

Mine was lilac colored with the Road Runner on it. I also had that big tall orange flag so that cars/drivers could see you...i would put a card or two on my spokes so it would make that "clap" noise as you rode it.
Did you ever notice that big ugly chick at the end of the credits? She LOOKS MAD!!!!!!!! I thought it was a guy, but everyone here told me it's a girl.

The strange thing is that kid who is not a grown man, wasn't even aware at the time he was going to be apart of TV sitcom history-lol I want to believe he spotted himself after watching Good Times and said-"Hey that's me!

I don't think they were aware of anything. I'll bet you that to this day, they have no idea they were on TV. That girl who stopped and came towards the camera, I don't think she was much of a television watcher. LOL

Brian Damage 04-28-2006, 10:38 AM she probably didn't have a t.v.!!!!!!
That particular girl looked like she has jacked a few tv's in her day. She was one angry, mean looking momma. lol
TVFactFan 04-28-2006, 10:52 AM That guy on the bike shouldn't be 40 yet.

I thought about that too! I'm sure someone he knows spotted him if he didn't spot himself. You couldn't get away with just taking random shots today, people would be like, "You didn't ask my permission, I'm gonna sue you!!!" LOL

I think you can still take random camera shots today, IN A MOVING CAR-LOL

i wonder if the camera man was black or white? i assume white, but one should never assume...in the ghetto, they don't give a damn what color you are except WHY YOU POINTING THAT S**T IN MY DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brieannas21 04-29-2006, 12:19 AM It looked like they were shooting from inside a moving car, I think the camera man knew not to stand in one place too long with a camera.

LMAO...if people read this post and the others, they would think we were talking abt a drive-by "shooting" with guns instead of a camera...LOL
Those kids probably thought it was the police filming "activity" or something.
catlover79 06-22-2007, 01:21 PM Those were cool looking bikes. The banana seats were so comfy!
Ireneparalegal 06-22-2007, 01:33 PM Do you think that was filmed specifically for Good Times? Or could it be stock footage? You know, like a college film, a documentary, etc. footage that wasn't used for a specific purpose.

Norman Lear did the same thing with All in the Family and Maude.

I think the purpose of the Good Times Footage was to show that Good Times was set in the city of the Chicago along with the Ghetto section which set the theme for the entie series.

Yeah, I get that. It gave it a "real" feel to the show. I also know what Brie said above is that it was Norman Lear's way to intro his shows.
But did Norman "find" that footage or did he actually film those intros? Those intros are very similar in how they were filmed. They are grainy, and have a documentary style fashion to it. Like Brie said before on here, it does look like someone filmed it straight from a car or moving vehicle.
SitcomGyrl1955 06-25-2007, 09:58 AM i wonder if the camera man was black or white? i assume white, but one should never assume...
Exactly! Just like one shouldn't assume that just because the girl was big and unattractive, she was mean or an ex-con
USATVFAN 06-25-2007, 10:04 AM Norman Lear did the same thing with All in the Family and Maude.
The Jeffersons And Sanford And Son were the same also with the grainy Look
