Who knows about your online foruming life to people you know in real-life? And to what extent do they know your online info (username, forum name, writings, etc...). Okay, let's assume stuff that's NOT a MySpace site since I am sure many of you are going to say that your friends are on yours. I am more interested in the forums and instant messages.

My friends and some co-workers know I forum. They know the forum names, but they don't know the URLs. I don't give them out because I write a lot of personal stuff here I wouldn't want certain people reading. My sister is one of the only family members who is computer-literate, but I don't tell her which forums I frequent. Even less with her because I write stuff I don't want her to know or question or become a nosy body over. They are like my own personal and private places, I guess.

Pretty much none of it. I've mentioned something about this website to my mom once, but not in any great detail.

My roommate knows I post on this site, but to others like my family, I tell them I post "on some TV message board," but I don't name names.

Nobody knows and I don't intend on ever telling anybody. My parents would probably be weird about it, anyways.

My wife knows I post here and knows my user name. I also have a friend at work that knows I post here, he even registered himself. I use to know another woman who posted here, but she is long gone now.

I usually keep my online activities pretty private--only my best friend knows of some of the sites I go to (but not all). I really don't want my family knowing about it.

I'm a member at only two message boards. The only person who knows about them is my husband.

It's nice talking to people with similar interests. No one I know is as obsessed with older shows as much as I am, so it's nice to discuss it with other people. I think everyone has their own "online secret life", lol. You know damn well when you get instant messages from friends/family that everyone else is sitting there at their computer screwing around doing the same kinda crap you are, LOL.

I also go into a Chatroom(not just random ones, the same one every night with well-known friends from one of the boards) and they have no clue about that. I don't reveal my exact location though, however, my age is known. I don't keep that a secret and I have shared my picture with a few people.

Only my family knows that I go on forums a lot. I mention it to my friends too, but they don't seem to care that much.

I can relate with you. I am a very private person myself especially towards my sister. I always feel like I am being harshly judged from her. I know it isn't always so, but I've been so used to feeling this way that it's hard to break out of this thinking pattern.
