View Full Version : So, I'm thinking about buying an IPOD

Yeah, I think it's about time I bought one. I normally use a Discman for all my music, but it's getting kind of outdated and annoying to change the cds every half hour or so.

So, I need some help because I have no idea what would be best. I know there are several types of IPODs out there on the market, but I want to know which would be the best quality for my money. I'm looking to spend between $200-300, if such an IPOD exists in that range :D

Any help or suggestions is much appreciated! Thanks :D

No way. iPod all the way!!

Definitely go with the Nano one. I know if I had the money right now, I'd be all over that like you wouldn't believe.

with that one, can you attach the device or adaptor that allows you to play it in your car?

I just looked at the Apple Ipod site and it said you can purchase a jack for the car :)

I might go for an IPOD Nano

I have a Samsung mp3 player and it's awesome. It's 5MB and holds 1200 songs. And the best part...it was only $170. Can't buy an IPod that holds that much for that price. It uses Napster for its uploading and it's super easy.

I've read that Sony's upload software sux, so I'd stay away from that.

My husband bought a Creative MP3 play w/ 8gb of memory for 250 bucks I think.

Someone I went to school w/ that worked at Circuit City said the nano's were a piece, but this was a while back, they have probably improved by now.

Jonathan bought this adapter for his car that lpays through the radio, it's wireless and all, it's really cool.

Get IPOD Shuffle, it's lightweight and cost less than the others

no way...MP3 players don't have half of the things iPods do.

anyway, i say get a nano....minis are good too, but they're hard to find since they're discontiuned.

i'd say get the shuffle if you want cheap, but it only holds 100 songs and most people have more then that. compared to the other ones it's kinda crappy since it doesn't even have a screen.

i say go for the nano though. i have one and i love it. it all depends on what you want.

Go with the Nano. I recently bought one that holds 500 songs. You can also upload pics and games on it.

I have a Shuffle and I don't really like it, because of the fact that it has a small limit, and there's no display screen or anything so you have no way at all of controlling what song you want to play at what time.

Go with the Nano, Krissy.

I have a regular Ipod that holds up to 1000 songs and I love it. Never use cds again.

I also enjoyed reading everyone's suggestions. I am also looking into a digital music player. I am also getting tired of changing and making CDs quite often. I'd rather just have all my MP3s into one location. I have so much music, and my tastes vary depending on my mood.

It's going to be a while longer for the music player because I am looking more into a digital camera these days, but thanks for the info!

Thanks for all your suggestions, guys :D I read every one of them and I think I may get the IPOD mini if I can find it. If that's a no go, I'm looking in to the Nano.

If all else fails, MP3 players here I come :) I'll be heading to Best Buy tomorrow to check everything out.

Thanks for everything, guys!

Mini's are the old version of the nano. You're probably going to have to go to eBay or some other 3rd-party dealer for one.

If you're looking to spend $200-$300, honestly, I'd just get the "Regular" iPod with Video Playback - the 30 GB model clocks in at $299 ($298 at Wal-Mart, and if you're a college student, you can actually get a $30 discount on it at the Apple Store at apple.com)

Hey Seth,

I actually just ordered my IPOD from ebay :D I ended up getting the green IPOD mini--it seemed like a much better deal because I'm paying $180 for a brand new, sealed IPOD that can hold 1,000 songs (whereas the Nano holds less songs for the same price...plus, I didn't like the colors  What can I say....I'm a girl and color is very important ;) ). I am pleased with what I ended up getting--I can't wait to receive it in the mail! :D

I have a 30GB ipod video and I love it. It holds about 7500 songs, which is good because I have a lot. I have movies and videos and tv shows on there...It's definitely the best thing I ever bought for myself.

Question for you guys: Does the IPOD mini let you upload photos too? It's not all that important, but I'm just curious. I know the Nano does.
