I think it can tell you a general "personality" of that person--sometimes you can find out their interests or perhaps a mood they may be in.

For instance, I knew Spike Maguire's Lady was a John Ritter fan when I first met her because she had avatars of him.

Number 9 Dream: I can tell you are a HUMONGOUS Holden fan, and you must like BrokeBack moutnain because anytime I see an avator w/ him in it, i automatically assume it's you :lol:

You can also tell by the kind of emotion present in the picture. Like MsOrange has a really amusing surprised look in the avatar. I've got 2 old moviestars in a warm embrace cuz I'm just a romantic softy :blush:

Solomon, rarely changes his. It's so far and few in between. So i feel like these two posters rarely like change. They like what they have.

Fleet..his ghostly avatars at first told me he was "weird"...now knowing him, he just loves Halloween and related stuff like ghosts...

Dr.John Becker's avatars told me he was patriotic.

Tripperfan, when i first started here, she had this avatar of someone jumping up and down...i couldn't even tell you what that was all abt. LOL

Rock Princess had some "offensive" wording that was jumbled. i sensed this was an angry person and i was kinda put off by that. Now, I just love her to death. Her avatar led me to believe she was a guy at first.

Alot of avatars have fooled me into thinking one was a guy and it was a girl instead.

Yeah, avatars are definitely helpful in seeing who's an AI fan and which singer they're rooting for (or who they hate) :D

I'm the same way. I don't think I've changed mine in like 2 years.

I usually just use tv shows or stars that I'm big fans of. I usually change my avatar every week.

yeah you can tell a difference from the people who add text and effects to theirs (Karen and all the ones she makes) or the ones that are screen shots or products or plainer simple pictures.

Good topic and interesting question. Most SO people I either haven't seen a photo of them or don't remember what they look like, so I tend to associate them with their avatar. I don't really put their personality based on their avatars, but....for instance, if I see some actor/actress/singer I don't recognize, I place the SO person with that celeb. If it's something of a non-person picture, then I place that inanimate object with that person. Dunno if that made sense....
