I'm always amazed when people tell me that they don't lock their doors. My best friend will leave her door unlocked in the afternoon if she goes out.

I always lock my doors, whether I'm home, out, or even going out for 10 minutes. I've always been this way. I live in a very safe Town too, but you never know.

I always lock my door. I live in an apartment complex, so I do it even if I am just going to my car or to check the mailbox or go to the laundromat. I am easily paranoid. It's the same with my car doors.

Always. And I set the alarm. I live in a safe place also but that is were alot of theft takes place. The crooks come from their side of town over to the supposedly safe side and look for opportunities. Everyone needs to catch an episode of "It Takes a Thief" on Discovery. Makes you think about how really safe your house is. Most of the time when you think you're safe and protected against theft...you're not.

Always.

Anything can happen, so why take any chances?

And my neighborhood is safe too.
I can take consolation in that fact if I happen to forget to lock a certain door or window.

Is that a documentary? It sounds like something I'd really enjoy.

I remember a few years back, a woman was breaking into the richest homes in California and stealing millions in cash, jewels, etc. Brazen as hell, in broad daylight. She got away with it for years.

I live in New York. If I didn't lock the door, not only would the contents of the house be gone but also the door.

We always lock it. A friend of my moms doesn't lock her car doors and about 6 years ago when she went to the car in the morning, there was a homeless guy sleeping on her backseat

Yeah we always lock our doors. If someone comes over and we let them in, we immediately lock the door after they come in. My grandma has pretty much ingrained that in me because she is afraid someone is going to come in and steal her.

I always double lock my door. I live in a pretty safe neighborhood, but that doesn't mean someone bad can't come into it.

That show is a real eye opener. It shows the lengths the bad guys will go to get your stuff.

Like Janice said, even if I'm going out for a few minutes, I lock my door.

I always lock my doors. I live in a small town but people come walking up the sidewalk at all hours of the night. Anything can happen.

We ALWAYS lock our doors here. It would be extremely risky not to.

Each of our doors have 3 locks.

If I'm going to the store I usually don't lock my doors, But if I'm leaving for work I'll lock them. So basically if I know that I'll be gone for a long period of time, then I'll lock my doors.

I ALWAYS lock my door. Locking the door saved my life one time.

I was unknowingly being followed while coming home from work. I got in and locked the door. Then a man started to pound on my door like a mad man. He said Let me in, Let me in..... I'm being followed - Someone is going to kill me....

I looked through the peephole and "GOD" told me not to open the door.

If I had opened that door I would have been raped, murdered or who knows what.

The man was not being followed. It was just 2 men knowing that I was coming home alone. So.......... Lock your doors.

"It Takes a Thief" is amazing...but all it's done is make me even more paranoid!

I lock my doors, my windows...check them both like 20 times. Just can't help it.

ALWAYS! My parents have been locking the house doors forever and of course I do if I'm leaving the house. We always lock our car doors too. There's been plenty of break ins in my area, so you can't take any chances.

Feels weird not to lock everything. House, car, locker at the gym...

Hell, one time I locked my car doors while I was parked in the HS parking lot, and some punks still broke in to smoke or something in it. I came back and both the back doors were open a crack. I should have had a hungry dog in there.

For some absolutely mind-boggling reason, my mother never locks doors - house doors, car doors, anything. I've never understood why - it's an all around bad idea, and one of these days she's going to get robbed. (But she's one of those folks who's ridiculously stubborn and hard to get to change, so I don't expect her habits to change barring a robbery). The only positive thing is she lives in a small rural town (pop ~2500), lowering the odds at least somewhat.

Me, on the otherhand, always. I've even been known to turn around at distances up to 10 miles to go back and make sure.

Before I moved to Fullerton in January I always made sure the doors were locked at night and before I left or went to sleep. Where I live, the doors are always locked all the time. My roommate is very good at remembering to lock the doors, so I don't have to worry about anyone forgetting.

If I'm at home, rarely. I'll even leave the door open to get some fresh air (we used to have a screen door at our house, I don't have that here but still keep the habit) When I leave, I lock it if I'm gone more than 10 minutes. and when I sleep, I mostly lock it. I've left it unlocked a few times, but everything is still here. I live in a family complex, so there's lot of families/old people who are here all the time, so they usually know if something suspicious is going on.

In Danville I used to always lock the doors because it was a busier neighborhood, but up here not so much unless Im going to be out all day. Ive been known to lock myself out of the house a few times! We live on some dirt back road with 3 neighors [one being my brother], so I dont anyone is gonna come up here to do anything. True, you never know, but I think its safe for 5 min. if I go to get gas or whatever.

As for my car, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS. Ive locked myself out of my car quite a few times because of that too  Im super paranoid when it comes to locking my car.

yeah all the time, and I don't even live in a bad area. I'm actually the one that checks the locks before we go to bed because I don't trust my family and plus it's an OCDish thing.
