Have there ever been shows in which male characters have outwitted their female counterparts? Or would that not be allowed today?

i doubt it, according to TV, men arent just idiots, were idiots who smell bad, cant cook, have no idea how to wash clothes, or take care of the kids.....good thing were shown as competent at work and...oh wait, men on TV would be totally useless at work if it werent for their competent female assistants........never mind

Wait a minute. what abt Gilligan's Island? I only remember when the ladies were making plans for the island sinking...they didn't panic, they came up with a plan. Other than that, it was usually the men (not Gilligan) who came up with ideas.

I don't know about that because the girls just weren't included in making plans. I am sure if they gave there ideas they would be resuced-lol. Since they aren't included and go along with everything I don't' know if it counts. They didn't seem to be allowed in the decisions. The girls weren't stupid either so they aren't really being outwit. The girls do revolt against the men in "St Gilligan and the Dragon" and demand equality. Early women's movement-lol. Seemed to only work for them in that one episode though.

I don't recall anyone, male or female, outwitting Gracie on Burns and Allen. Certainly there were people with a firmer grasp of reality, but she simply confounded them until they ran screaming. (Leaving their hats behind them.)

The networks can't make a show about women who are clothes horses, shop for five hours after going into a store for five minutes, read nothing other than a fashion magazine, and spend way too much time gossiping on the phone. The National Organization for Women would be all over them. Their earlier attempts at women's equality in America having largely failed, NOW has nothing else to do.

Who cares? Women have Fox sitcoms, men have Fox News - and everyone knows Fox News (i.e., men) runs the country!

Actually, NOW has no reason to be, because women ARE equal..and thats fine with me :)

On Friends the guys (besides Joey) seemed to outwit the women.

Yeah - but I think the Friends gals had power over the men, remember Monica & Rachel kissing (if only we saw it!) to get their apartment back?

This is an excellent question. If it were asked in reverse, this thread would be three pages by now.

Even Mike on All In The Family was supposed to be so smart. Yet he still was put in his place time and time again by Gloria and Edith.
