Though far from official at this point, my inside sources tell me that season 2 is penciled in for July 11!!! Which is a great sign of a fast release for this series....looks like they were happy with season 1 sales......

According to tvshowsondvd.com, I Dream of Jeannie season 2 will indeed be released on July 11 as first reported by me last Friday....I thought this was a big scoop, but no one even replied to the thread...c'mon jeannie fans, can we at least get a "whoopie!", we need to support this show if we want a full series release....jeannie fans unite!

:woohoo: I'll probably get season 2 before season 1. I refuse to get the colorized version which is everywhere around here.

...I should advise those buying "Season 2" on DVD that, as in the syndicated version, the opening titles are exactly the same as the one that began appearing in season three (1967-'68).

If you listen to Hugo Montenegro's orchestration of the title theme, it matches the one heard at the end of all closing credits in season three.
The music under the SECOND season title, however, is supposed to sound like the one heard at the end of each season TWO episode...and WITHOUT Sidney Sheldon's name on it (that was flashed at the END of every episode in 1966-'67). The reason is, the original season two opening title had a sponsor I.D. at the beginning {"The Colgate-Palmolive Company presents.."} and end {"I DREAM OF JEANNIE...brought to you by---"}, and Screen Gems-Columbia never bothered to officially recut the second season title for syndication, "slapping" on the third season title instead. To show you just how cheap THEY were, from season three on, the SAME opening titles, regardless of season, were used for the remainder of the series on NBC and in future syndication.

Sonny, I'd suggest getting your black and white version DVD's online someplace, like Amazon.com. Or call your local Best Buy - they seemed to have them in limited numbers. Maybe they'll have them.

I'm waiting for the Second Season. It has many wonderful episodes. And of course we can hear the theme of Hugo Montenegro, the best TV theme on Television.

...but don't you think SONY would have used the appropriate photo of "Jeannie" taken during the SECOND season, instead of using one from the 1967-'68 season? I know the slight differences of Barbara's appearance in makeup and costume during each season, and this cover is a "cheat" to those who've never seen the 1966-'67 episodes before.

ohno:

What I think is sad about this release is that there won't be any extras on this DVD. Can't they even come up with a biography section, some stills, goofs or so at Sony? I'm sure there are Jeannie bloopers out there, if so I'd love to see them.

...a 'blooper reel" created from the second season, no doubt it's in private hands. I knew a film collector who, years ago, showed me a December 1966"tag" that originally appeared at the very end of "My Master, The Author", in which Larry Hagman briefly stepped out of character to extend New Year's wishes from the cast and crew of the show. Barbara then blinked....and snow gently started falling on them, as the scene faded to black.

That sounds great...I would love to see that on a DVD or future DVD sets..I know I know we should be happy to just have the show on DVD and that Sony seems to be happy with the sales and they release the sets within such a short time and I am forever grateful ;) still I bet that the DVD sets would sell so much better if they put more extras on the sets...something no-one else has seen before or very few people...

BTW, I contacted Sony the other day and mentioned that I'd love to see more extras such as bloopers, biographies or interviews on new sets whether they're going to listen to me I don't know but if you guys emailed them and asked kindly I bet they would listen to the fans.
