I've been wondering why he left the show after the first season.


Because he felt that his role became too small and didn't understand why since he came from the show-"All in the Family" like Isabel and Sherman hemsley. I kind of agree, if he was THE SON why would his role be the same as MOTHER JEFFERSON?-lol
