Who do you think was the instigator in most of the darrin vs. endora battles? i personally think darrin...he's SUCH a jerk most of the time to both samantha and endora, though i do think mother pulled some pretty severe witchcraft on him sometimes. what do you think?

I always saw Darrin as the victim myself (esp. the original Darrin, played by Dick
York) ... although, to be honest, I suppose sometimes he did bring it on himself.

Enodora started it by trying to control their lives via witchcraft. Darrin exacerbated it by insulting Endora or telling her to get lost. But Darrin felt more victimy because he was helpless under the powers of witchcraft.

Usually it was Endora interfering in their marriage, but at times Darrin did bring on his own misery.

It's close except with Dick Sargent I felt Endora really should have turned him into someting -for good:lol: I couldn't stand the fake Darrin most of the time.
It's true Endora was trying to break up the marraige but on the other hand I think part of her could accept Durweed:lol: if he hadn't been so hardnosed about the no witchcraft thing especially after Tabitha came along because being a witch was her heritage and Endora rightfully resented to Darrin and to some dergree Sam's insistence on Tabitha only doing things the mortal way.Clearly Tabitha had the same insticts for witchcraft that Endora did as she got older I though it was a little mean for Sam- who became dull towards the end and the fake Darrin didn't give Tabitha any room to be a witch.Samantha was less ingrained against witchcraft in the early years.

I think Darrin, he always started off by insulting Endora which is why she used witchcraft on him for revenge. Endora made no secret she was opposed to their marriage but Darrin did nothing to change her opinion.

I'd say it Darrin. Endora never did like him from the beginning because he was mortal, she may have been willing to accept him if he let Sam use her magic. In the beginning he was willing to be nice to her until she kept using her magic purposely, since she knew it irked him.

...Endora was the instigator, because she believed Samantha should be using her witchcraft more (even though SHE didn't think she should), and Darrin would always deliver the variation of that old saw, "NO WITCHCRAFT IN MY HOUSE!!". And then the "fun" would begin as Endora would humiliate Darrin by doing just that, to prove her point....with Sam getting caught in the middle. Make no mistake, Endora did have SOME respect for Darrin- but his insistance on "no witchcraft" made him an easy target, nonetheless.

I have to vote for Darrin... he always seemed to egg Endora on, knowing full well the consequences of doing so... still, it made for some funny moment!

This one really IS close...but I think I'll say Endora. All Darrin wanted to do was to lead a "normal, mortal life" with Samantha but Endora kept on butting in. Then again, she probably wouldn't have tortured him so much if he would've stopped insulting her!!

Each one was an instigator at some point. But Darrin got off on the wrong foot the first day he met Endora and said (about witchcraft), "We don't need any of that nonsense"...I mean, he could have gotten his point across in a much nicer way. Endora was a witch and for him to call witchcraft "nonsense" was a personal insult to her. I think most of the time he chose the wrong words and really opened the door to her treatment of him.

You know, I always got the feeling that there WAS love and (at least a little) respect between DY's Darrin and Endora. I was also not surprised to read in several books and articles that DY and AM respected and liked each other a great deal in real life. To me Endora was never evil, just mischievious. She always had that twinkle in her eye. To me, that made her actions even funnier, like the time she zapped Darrin into thinking he was pregnant. Now THAT was funny!!
