It's hard for me to decide, but for my little sister it would be easy: Burger King! LOL...

McDonalds makes the best french fries, no doubt, but Burger King makes the best burgers and they make onion rings, and that's what puts Burger King over the top.

McDonalds - BK ruined their fries. Anyway, Mossopp you are correct...here is the story:

Food Urban Legend #9
White Stuff Oozing from a Chicken Sandwich is not Mayonnaise

by The Sleuth

The Story

"A woman goes into a fast food restaurant and orders a chicken sandwich with no mayo. She bites into it, tastes some kind of sauce, and looking at her sandwich, realizes that it looks kinda like mayonnaise. She takes it back to the counter where they insist that there was no mayo on the sandwich. Eventually, it turns out that the piece of chicken contained a tumor, and when the woman bit into it it exploded, releasing some kind of pus-like substance."

The Facts

This one, which always involves a female victim, is commonly attributed to processed sandwiches such as the McChicken Sandwich from McDonald's. That makes it an impossible story since the chicken in such a sandwich is ground up and reformed into a patty shape before the breading and cooking process. A cyst or tumor would have been destroyed long before it reached our grossed-out customer.

If the sandwich were a chicken breast sandwich, such as a grilled chicken sandwich, a pus-filled abscess or cyst would have been pounded flat when the chicken was prepared for the sandwich, or easily identified when the sandwich was being constructed. Tumors, incidentally, are solid and do not contain pus.

Now you're really hungry, huh?

McDonald's for fries and Big Macs.
Burger King for the rest.
Though after a night of drinking, McDonalds.

And what about Wendy's?

Growing up it was the competition between MD and BK and also between Wendy's and Roy Rogers.
Now Roys are all but gone from around here (a few remain).

I miss Roys (the fixin' bar rocked).

Pre 1990s Burger King was really good. But once they got too clever with their finely textured pink slop, really ruined a good thing. I'm sure the extra 45 cents profit they make per patty makes them their stockholder's darlings.....but since when have I tailored my diet to please anyone but myself?

McDonalds burgers are nothing to get excited about either....so much of their menu is prepared ahead of time now and kept on "stand by" in those little warmer ovens, which seem to keep the food about 20 degrees above room temperature....... And I hate tepid fast food. So I'll get a "fresh from the grill" quarter pounder from time to time, that's about it.

5 guys is much better than either, Hardees is too.

Mc Donald's is still OK but their burgers don't seem as tasty now like they used to be.

I get burgers from Burger King whenever I crave that flame broiled flavor.

Currently my favorite preference for burgers is Wendy's, and Burger King has the best fries.

My area also has a Sonic Drive-In that has pretty good food but I haven't been there in quite a while.

Another good food place in my area is Denny's but I haven't been there in a while either.

This thread goes back 20 yrs or so and to say this fast food is awesome, yikes.

If I get an urge for a fairly priced burger I will get a Carls Jr...and there too the quality is down and prices UP.....

I can't help but wonder if many of these fast food joints have gone to the "fake meats"....

McDonald's ! I admit I like a Big Mac, McNuggets or Egg McMuffin now and than ! But to me the absolute best Hamburger is the Jumbo Jack at Jack in the box, also they have good chicken nuggets too! :)

I really don't care for Burger King or Carl's Jr. Wendy's is pretty good too! But I don't like any fast food french fries ! :p

I frequented both places quite a bit especially BK with the coupons that would come in the mail frequently. The sausage egg and cheese croissants were good but since the lock down I have been making my own food so the thought of McD's and BK is kind of a turn off

biffbronson

I agree with several of the comments. I'm not really a fan of the fries from either place. BK is generous with their coupons. I'm a big guy and can handle a Whopper or Big Mac with ease, but I've been trying to go with more healthy homemade stuff and lighter meals.

I've never tried any of the BK breakfast stuff, except once years ago I think they included some rolls & icing for me at early lunchtime as a free bonus --
because they had some leftovers as they transitioned to their lunch menu. McDonald's breakfast items are okay, but I don't often go to get them.

Generally, I think that most of the chain burger joints overdo it with sauce. TOO MUCH ketchup, TOO MUCH special sauce, etc

Burger King had those Whopper Melts a while back, and I had them hold the "Stacker sauce", and instead took them home and sparingly added dijon mustard....and it was good enough that I went back a few times for more. Same with Hardees "Primal" burgers...get them to hold the special "amber sauce", and add a little dijon myself, and a pretty good burger.

One of my biggest Pet peeves is to order a burger with no ketchup, and have them put it on anyway.

It seems to me that they don't season the quarter pounders anymore like they used to. A quarter pounder with cheese these days tastes like bland meat with cheese on it. I mostly prefer ordering double cheeseburgers at McD's now because they usually taste like they have some seasoning salt/pepper on them.

I completely agree with this. I like ketchup and mustard on my burgers but I almost always order them without. There's nothing worse than taking a burger out of the wrapper and picking it up only to have your hand get covered in ketchup. I don't know why they feel the need to drench them in sauces, ugh.

GentlemanJim

I don't know why they feel the need to drench them in sauces, ugh.

My personal suspicion is that it's because the patty has such a high fat content, and flooding the sandwich with sauce helps conceal that.

I enjoy ketchup on onion rings. A few years back I was at a burger king where I had frequently made a point to the staff when they put ketchup on a burger even after I specifically asked for none......and I was filling up a few of those little paper cups with ketchup for my rings.

A staffer "caught" me, and challenged me to defend my hypocrisy.

I just held out my fist and made a pounding gesture while making a "splat-splat-splat" noise, and said when I let you guys do it, you get carried away.

That seemed to resonate with them

Not a fan of fast food burgers, and if I'm go to have a chain-made burger, it'll probably be from Red Robin.

Yes, I always order a burger with lettuce only. Don't like the goop (ketchup, mustard, etc). In-and-Out burger always gets my order right.
