Guys,

The letter submitted to the judging contest committee is NOTHING like the two lines Marcia writes in Mike's Den and in her bedroom!

In the first instance, while in Mike's Den, Marica writes:

"My Dad should be Father of the Year for hundreds of reasons."

After being grounded by Mike for not doing her extra chores, she writes:

"Even when he punishes me, it's because I deserve it." She then see the deadline and seals the letter and mails it. However, when the contest officals have Mike READ what she writes notice that while very moving it is not a part of what she originally wrote:

"Even though he's only been my Dad a short time, no father could be a realer father than Michael Brady."

So the questions are:

1.) If those two lines are included, why wouldn't Mike read the whole letter?

2) The second line about Mike deservedly punishing her, should be included because this is what Marcia mailed!

3.) It's possible that the line about Mike being Father of the Year for hundreds of reasons was a draft that Marcia re-wrote. But it does NOT explain the cicumstances of #2!

Jack

The thing that's most disturbing about that episode, to me, is that a man can be deemed "Father of the Year" based solely on what his daughter writes in a brief letter.

Who are the judges?

What are their qualifications?

Now that you mention it and I think about it, you are right. It doesn't make any sense as to why Mike was Father of the year, there were a few things in that episode that don't make sense...

Perhaps it was a tabloid paper and they never checked their facts and they just found Marcias letter the most impressive.

also the letters were different. She threw the original one in the trash before retrieving it. When the judges received the letter, it was no longer wrinkled.
