Betty Jean wasn't an ugly woman, she was fat, but they shouldn't have tried to force her on to Lamont like that. It's kind of funny....look at it like this, Lamont and Betty Jean didn't really know one another, Fred and the parents go out for a while, they come back, and all of a sudden, Lamont and Betty Jean announced they are getting married. I know it was a scheme from Lamont's point of view, but the parents seemed happy of the news, they weren't aware of the scheme, and they seem like they were rushing Betty Jean to get married. What parents would go for their daughter to marry a person they only knew for a few hours?!

I get the impression from the ending that Bille Jean was not totally involved in Lamont's scheme. When Fred was talking about all the things Lamont was going to do do her (the monogrammed sweatbox...shoving the funnel down her throat....etc.), Billie Jean looked horrified and scared. Does anyone else agree?
