Interesting question. There was some speculation that Roger Dean was bound and gagged before he was murdered. Also the MO bank president Dan Short was apparently bound and gagged and tied to a chair before he was thrown into the water. Police think he was alive when he went into the water...what a horrible way to go. :(

There was the one with the Polaroid picture of the two missing kids that were bound and gagged, too.

Yeah, but how credible is that picture? Wasn't there a lot of thought that the picture (supposedly of Tara Calico and another missing boy whose body was found in the mountains) was a hoax.

I remember a case I think it was out of suburban Washington, DC where two intruders marched into this man's home and bound and gagged the man. The one line I remember was, "What about your kids, do you like your kids?" and the man said, "You keep my kids out of this!"

I think, although I could be wrong, that the man was involved in some kind of so-called government or CIA dealings or something like that.

Can anyone help me out.

I think it took place in a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC.

Any thoughts?

Tara Calico is listed on the Doe Network, as is the photo of the bound and gagged girl thought to be her. After looking at both of them for myself, I have to say that, although I'm no crime expert or anything like that, I don't believe that the girl in the photo is Tara. Here's why.

1. The estimated age of the girl in the photo is fifteen to sixteen years old, Tara was nineteen when she disappeared. If you look at the photo, the girl does (in my opinion) look considerably younger than nineteen.

2. The girl in the photo is listed as having blue eyes, Tara's eyes were green.

3. The girl in the photo is estimated to be about 5'0", Tara was 5'7".

Wasn't the MN businessman who was kidnapped by the bumbling, overweight, kidnapper with a bad plan, bound and gagged once the guy got him to the sleeping bag location that had been prepared ahead of time in the woods?

Another one: Chad Langford was bound with his pistol strap tied around his ankle, his hat stuffed in his mouth, and the cord from his radar unit wrapped around his neck.

Zodiac survivor Bryan Hartnell was bound before he was stabbed. Though he was not gagged. (i'm sure poor Bryan would have preffered being gagged as opposed to what happened to him and his female companion. :( )

Was the case that greatgarrett referred to the Doyle Wheeler case?

Hey, to each his own, but his repetition is overkill. I'm surprised no one called him out on it sooner.

Believe me, I've been chomping at the bit, but I made a promise to myself I was going to be nicer this year. :D

Yeah, it sure sounds like it (Doyle Wheeler was living in Spokane, WA, though, not D.C. Pretty sure that's the one he was thinking of, though). Mr. Wheeler was definitely bound and gagged, so that's another one.

Didn't the Boston Rapist have a nurse bind the doctor working in the office he held up that evening? Not sure if that really counts for this category, though.

Was Stanley Gryziec bound and gagged? I know his wife was, but I can't recall if the home invaders did the same to him.

Oh, dear, and I thought the "tied" referred to ropin' dogies!

Meg,

I went to the UM site to get info on the Gryziec case. They never even said that Esther Gryziec was tied up, although it sounds like she was hog tied. Her hands and feet were tied up, then they were bound together.

The only way we know that from the UM site is that after they talk about the ransacking of the house, they start mentioning how Esther untied herself. Even when describing how she was attacked, they don't mention anything about her being restrained.

Also, this had to be a set up deal. The guys ripped up throw pillows looking for something in the house. That's stuff that they do in the movies, imo.

I think they must have known what they wanted and where it was, but stayed in the house, staging the scene, so they could kill Stanley and make it look like a burglary gone wrong.

Something's really "off" about that case.
