View Full Version : Could a whole community get scammed?...
T-Greg 04-12-2006, 05:05 PM In light of the chipsandsoda scam, here's a good story to read. People often let their guard down when a story evokes sympathy or compassion, and throw common sense out the window. The common theme here is people get too focused on a certain goal (helping others, getting something they want real bad, etc.) and become blinded along the way, despite signs that spell trouble:

I stubbed my toe last week, and my sinus condition is acting up. Would someone like to send me some blanks.

See what I mean. Here's a definite scam. I'm told Harvey is wheelchair-bound, so how could he get up and walk around?

You can't fool me. I want to see pictures of the toes and a CT scan of your sinuses
savageamusement 04-13-2006, 10:41 AM Thing that puzzled me is the rumor was that this guy,
"chipsnsoda"
was homeless.
If he's homeless how can he be making sets of dvds, and why was he around long enough to make 90 posts?
So had I heard that part of the story right away....
This Happy Days set was the first time in the entire run of that account he asked for money.
So to be fair, that isn't exactly screaming "Im a scammer" if you aren't familiar with scammer behaviour.
Not all scammers take time to post on numerous forums, establishing a hisotry and reputation-
Still a shame
Lilhave so sorry to hear about your illness.
I am looking for a box big enough to ship myself in currently, and will be there in 4-7 days - Sorry I can't afford priority.
You'll sign for the box tho right?
Savage, who is holding her breath
T-Greg 04-13-2006, 10:50 AM I never believed he was homeless (Andy Turpa, using his other IDs) but apparently that is what he told the people he scammed. It's just a way to illicit sympathy. From what I understand, the "homeless" story came out only after he admitted he was lying about making sets for people. Noone would have ever believed him had he said he was homeless, and for X amount of money he would sell you some discs.

The doctor told me to get plenty of bed rest, so I'm puffin! up the pillow and can't wait. I serve breakfast in bed and who knows maybe I'll take you out for some sunshine.

Yeah, I've heard it takes old guys that long to take their pants off.
And then they forget why they were taking them off in the first place. (That's another month.)
