Here's a clip that I haven't found mentioned anywhere on the boards, and was just wondering if anyone had some additional info or updates on it, or even remembers it.

I first saw this clip many years ago when they were showing UM at like 2 in the morning (I miss those days, it was a good time slot if you liked to get freaked out at night)

Anyways, there was this older police offer (maybe 50's) who had a wife and a son (in his teens I believe). He pulled over this car with a bunch of kids in it for a seeminly routine traffic violation. They ended up killing him. Tragic case, there was no reason behind it. There hadn't been any update last I saw it, but again that was many years ago and was just wondering if there was any news on it. I believe the clip aired in the early 90's and it may have taken place in a southern state, possibly Viriginia, but I'm not too sure on that.

thanks

I have one in mind that may be the one you're talking about. It happened in South Carolina in the early 70's. Roy Caffey was a highway patrolman and pulled over some people in a car. Police say he had the people get in his car and then apparently was beaten severely and shot several times. His son was quite young at the time but is now grown and is searching for the killer. I have the NBC version of this story so it didn't have an update but there has been one on the Lifetime version I believe and it mentions on this memorial page for him:

Is this the segment you're thinking of?

this could be it. I checked out the link and they had a picture of the police officer. I don't remember him looking quite like that when I watched the episode, but who knows how old that photo is so it could be him. In any event, the website said they made an apprehension in 1997, a full 25 years after the death, so that's good.

thanks for the help
